isn't Rondo in USA camp? I doubt he's going to be there especially if he is not cut, he'll be in Turkey in 2 weeks

I believe the Tourny has already concluded, and Big Baby's team won (via his twitter). Also, the prior posts about Rondo playing may have been from last year if you check the dates.

Looks like Glen Davis finally got it done in the Louis Saunders Streetball Tournament in Boston after three years of trying:

Big Baby's team included Anthony Anderson (Umass), Courtney Eldridge (UNC-Wilmington), Corey Lowe (Boston U), and Antonio Anderson (Memphis/OKC Thunder).  They beat a Mission Hill team (2 time champs) with Will Blalock (Pistons), Demetrius Nichols (Knicks), Torrin Francis (Notre Dame), Charles Bronson (Xavier), Keith Butler (Depaul), Tony Lee (Robert Morris), and Frank Robinson (Maine Red Claws).

Anybody remember Anthony Anderson?  Played for Lynn English.  I saw him play when I was a freshman and sophomore in HS.  I remember him being a much better player than Antonio Anderson was in high school (Lynn Tech) even as Antonio became a senior.  Anthony was a very pure point guard where I never felt that Antonio fit a position very well.  He's kind of like a poor man's Francisco Garcia, kind of a SF/point-forward.  I wonder why Anthony never went anywhere.

Is Tony Lee from Charlestown High?  That name sounds familiar and I notice a lot local names here.

Dwight Brewington (Providence)... THAT kid was better than all of the above.  He had such ridiculous potential even with his hearing deficiency.  I really thought I'd see that kid in the NBA.  He played like Shaun Livingston pre-injury and would be drilling half court jump shots as a sophomore during JV halftimes begging his 70 yr old coach to watch him.

Why not? That's how NBA players practice career development. They play basketball.

I went to this and it did conclude yesterday.  I only went to the finals but it was fun to watch.  Baby actually played fairly terrible and put up about 3 airballs, although he was looking a little trimmer/less fat than before.  he looks like hes been working out, his arms are huge.  He was matched up alot with Torin and Demetrius Nichols.

Anthony Anderson looked pretty good.  As did Will Blalock i felt in the 2nd half.

Anyone know who was #1 on the red team?  He had a ferocious dunk after he crossed over.  Like a 2 hand dunk with his head almost at the hoop.  That was ridiculous...

I also heard Baby got dunked on a little before I got there but didnt see it.  Nate was rumored to be playing but he didnt show up.  that would have been awesome.

If I was the Celtics owners or Danny Ainge, I would be on the phone with all of the rumored Celtics that are playing in this and saying "you better stay the heck away from this tournament because if you get hurt we will void your contract" or something along those lines.

If I was an employer paying the huge salaries these guys get, I would not let them come close to this event.

Apparently they don't put stuff like that in their contracts.

So they risk injury in meaningless pickup games like this or whatever Rondo is playing in.

Every player in a tournament is, or has been, a pro (NBA, Overseas, Minor Leagues), or at a minimum, played in college.  So I don't think there is any more risk playing in this tournament than there is of playing in an NBA game or NBA practice or NBA summer league.

NBA players aren't supposed to avoid playing basketball all summer so they don't get hurt.  Big Baby got hurt last year punching his friend.  They are supposed to be smart and not play against scrubs, not play on pavement, that kind of thing. Alot of the guys in this tournament could legitimately play in the NBA.

Anthony Anderson looked great...he starting playing in the minors about 4 years ago and won MVP of the league his first season.  Then he played in Cyprus and Poland and had a tryout with the Indiana Pacers.  Its hard to believe he's not better than: Marcus Banks, Anthony Carter, Toney Douglas, Daniel Gibson, Royal Ivey, Oliver Lafayette, Gary Neal, Ramon Sessions, or Ben Uzoh.

#1 was Frank Robinson from Cal State Fullerton...he played in the D-League last year including time with the Maine Red Claws.  I read online that he signed with a team in Israel this season, and that team will be scrimmaging the Nets in preseason.

Yes Tony Lee played at Charlestown High then Robert Morris.  He is Robert Morris all time leading rebounder despite being a 6'0 guard.  He's a pitbull!  I heard he has been playing in Poland.

Antonio Anderson (Anthony's brother) looked really good and knocked down a huge three pointer to seal the win.  He also shut down Demetrius Nichols in the final which was huge because Nichols had been scorching everyone else the whole tournament.

Marc Egerson from Georgetown was there playing with the Millrats.  He was a teammate of Doc's son as a Hoya.

they should only be allowed to play NBA2k10 in the offseason, and even that should be limited due to the potential for carpal tunnel syndrome
