no, I don't believe he deserves to be the starter (or likely even on the team) but he may just back into the spot

with Yao out and Shaq to the East, who's left at center out West?

2009 All Star West Center Voting:

   1. Yao Ming - Hou - 2,532,958
   2. Shaquille O'neal - Phx - 1,850,018
   3. Andrew Bynum - LAL - 549,131
   4. Mehmet Okur - Utah - 437,106
   5. Greg Oden - Por - 359,318
   6. Andris Biedrins - GS - 357,984
   7. Al Jefferson - Minn - 310,643
   8. Tyson Chandler - NO - 242,356
   9. Chris Kaman - 231,928
  10. Marcus Camby - 158,491

PROBABLE 2010 ALL STAR BALLOT FOR WEST CENTERS:

Nene Hilario (Den), Al Jefferson (Minn), Greg Oden (Por), Mehmet Okur (Utah), Andris Biedrins (GS), Andrew Bynum (LAL), Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby (LAC), Amaré Stoudemire (Phx), Erick Dampier (Dal), Luis Scola (Hou), Emeka Okafor (NO)

Hopefully Al Jefferson recovers and gets voted in, but don't count on it.  I'd assume Stoudamire will get votes, as will Oden.  But you can't count out Bynum as the fan favorite because he plays on LA and has gotten so much hype.

Probably will be, fans vote for popular teams/players. If he stays healthy he could easily earn it though.

My only concern is that Big Al makes it.

Im thinking Big Al/Okafor/Scola will all be better than him, but Bynum, will probably have hurt his knee again by the all star game so it wont be an issue
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Wow, Mehmet Okur placed fourth in votings! Never realised this...

I don't see Bynum making the start however. I'm sure the NBA will realise that there is no real marquee center in the west at the present and will make players like Gasol and TD eligable for the Center vote.

I think the likely deserving candidates will be Al Jefferson, Mehmet Okur and Andris Biedrins but since when do All-Star berths go to the players that deserve them? With Bynum a world champion and playing next to Kobe in the LaLa market, with the amount of times he is going to be on national television and having Sid Breem, Marc Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, Marv Albert and Hubie Brown drooling over him, he's your Western Conference starting All-Star center.

Amare could be put into the center spot on the ballot potentially...

its too bad Shelden Williams is coming east, he would have been a lock to start next year for the west =)

I think Popovich will put Ducan @ Center, and play Mcdyess @ PF. So Duncan will be the starting Center for the west hopefully. I'm going to vomit if Bynum gets in by default.

Not if my boy Chris Gatling "gun" comes back back and takes him out first.

I loved Chris Gatling! He had a nice lefty hook shot!
