Danny Ainge is from the old school of a guard is a guard (see Danny and DJ in the 80's) and only in special cases do you really score a special "true point guard" as with Rondo.

Delonte was really Danny's ideal guard but had to be used to land Ray Ray and Banner 17.  I don't see a whole lot of versatile players like Delonte on the market out there right now considering what we can afford.

The fact that Pruitt was waived should tell you that a young point guard is not what the Celtics are looking for. End of story.

The fact is that Pruitt was never really a point guard to begin with. He was a 2 that they were trying to convert into a 1. I don't know that it's a matter of age. I think what the Celtics need is a true, pass first shoot secong type to back up Rondo. I wouldn't say just because Pruitt didn't work out it couldn't be someone young. I mean Rose, Rondo, CP all all pretty young, yet they are pretty good point guards. I don't see how getting rid of Pruitt means that they won't sign someone else just because they are around his age.

Can you name any good young PG's that aren't already the cornerstone's of their franchise?

Deron Williams--Jazz
CP3--Hornets
Devin Harris--Nets
Rondo--Heir to the throne in Boston
Derrick Rose--Chicago

etc.

There are no good young PG's that aren't REALLY, REALLY good young PG's.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Young or old doesn't matter as long as they can play.  Ideally, we'd like to have someone with some size who can defend the 2 guard, to better complement Eddie House.  That's much more important than whether a guy's been in the League two years or twelve years.  Play big, play D, and be able to initiate the offense, that's what we're looking for.

And for those who are counting on a LATE second-round draft pick who really didn't do all that much in Summer League to be an important part of next year's rotation....   REALLY?  Has ANYONE seen enough of Hudson to know whether he can play at the next level?  From what I saw, Pruitt was the better player in Summer League, and I'm pretty confident in saying that Gabe Pruitt simply was not good enough to help us win ballgames.  Hudson may prove to be a diamond in the rough, but you can't expect ANYTHING out of him.

Just sign Marbury.
I would be very afraid that he would borrow his cousin's girlfriend's gun and go postal on the team if he doesn't get minutes after watching some of that podcast. Dude's bizarre. Best to let the Lakers get him.

He's harmless and not violent. ::)

I don't agree with that.

DJ Augustin
JJ Barea
Mike Conley
Monta Ellis
Jordan Farmar
Raymond Felton
George Hill
Jameer Nelson
Ronnie Price
C.J. Watson
Russell Westbrook
Beno Udrih
Ramon Sessions
Rodney Stuckey
O.J. Mayo

That's 15 good (but not great) young point guards and still counting.  Obviously some are better than others.

And the list doesn't include any June draftees (e.g. Tyreke Evans, Jonny Flynn, etc.)

I'd like the Celtics to go after Roko Leni-Ukic.  I wonder what the Raptors would take for him.

The good young PGs are hard to get at this point.

Competent PG no matter the age is what the Celtics need.  (and Marbury is not)
