and here i thought al harrington, brad miller and chris andersen were excellent on ball defenders. in other news, the earth is round.

meanwhile, everyone else on the list sucks because they don't play d. but KG's not good because he averages 18 in a series they win the title while winning defensive player of the year?

only at fox can this guy STILL be getting paid to write this stuff.

Glad to see none of the guys on that list on the CB Nets fantasy team, but several on my Atlantic division competition.  I chalk that up to good a GM  :D

Chris Andersen (Boston), Camby (Toronto), Garnett (Toronto), plus Baron Davis (Philly) and Vince Carter (NY).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Makes no sense... In our championship year KG averaged over 20 points, almost 11 boards and more than 3 assists in 38 minutes. Compare that to the last time he made the playoffs before that, in 2004 (his MVP year) where he played over 40 minutes, the numbers are pretty comparable. 24 points, 15 boards and 5 or 6 assists then, on a significantly lesser team.

His numbers this year were probably hampered by Doc keeping him limited, and his knee that was allegedly an issue all season long. Either way, using the number argument to say KG is decling at a rapid rate just seems perposterous.

Not overrated. But In crush time, KG is a choke artist. He misses freethrows when it counts, and is very passive when the game is on the line. Sorta like Pierce against Chicago this year. What should've been a 4 game or 5 game series turned into a 7 games series cause of his troubles at the line in crucial moments.
I'm sorry, I have to call you out on this one.  Pierce is not clutch?  Wow.

ugh, please don't. we had that 15 page thread explaining why it's not unusal for a 82% FT shooter to not be as "Clutch" as a high 90's one already  :-X

Nothing about this article is coherent or even based on facts or numbers. The most concrete evidence he has ironically enough is the 08 finals numbers of KG which capture about .0001% of the picture of his game and what he means to a team. Are there editors at foxsports? If not I know some great candidates who are out of work right now.

KG really needs to raise his intensity level too. It's obvious he is no good anymore but the fact that he is so carefree and doesnt seem to get into the games that much is most disturbing as well. You surely dont believe this line of B.S. do you?

Thanks Charley for a terrific example of cherrypicking stats.  KG playing poorly in a couple of losses just shows that when KG plays poorly, it's harder for us to win, and when he plays well, it's easier.  Shocker.  Thanks for omitting KG's clutch plays down the stretch in Game 4, arguably the highest-pressure game in the series, too.

And any list of this kind that doesn't include Mo Williams, the "key piece" to the Cavs who spent six months getting slobbered over by the press, and two weeks playing hot potato in the ECF, doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Edit: Also, if KG is such a front-runner, why did he have so many great years for so many crappy T-Wolves teams?  Incoherent is right.

My sanity thanks you  ;D

(though it should be noted, racker is correct that the notion is bonkers, as that thread proved pretty well, i thought.)

Thank you Charley Rosen for adding some early fuel to the Banner 18 fire.

I wonder if we ask nicely, maybe just before the playoff start next season, Charlie would write a 5000 word follow up article focusing just on all the overrated Celtic players.
