No questions asked, without a doubt, I'd never second guess the decision....TA in a heartbeat...why you may ask?

Scal is versatile, takes his job seriously, gives consistent effort, has a high basketball IQ, knows when/how to use his fouls.

Tony is not versatile at all, is the most overrated defender in the league, hasn't improved since 2005, and is quite frankly lucky to still be on the roster as far as Im concerned.

HAHA 16-0.

Who should we ditch, the fan favorite who plays a role well or the injury prone turnover machine who shoots but can't score?
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

TA without a doubt, but I fear to make the S&T it will have to be Scal.

You fear them having to take a guy barely good enough for the vet minimum who makes over $3MM a year.

This guy has negative value, yet for some reason is viewed as a positive by some fans.  The sooner we get rid of him, the better.

Does he have some use?  Yes, but the guy isn't as good as Joe Smith who likely comes at a cheaper price.

I think your view is definitely in the minority. Regardless, Scal is much more serviceable than TA, and more productive. Scal is a nice 4th big and can stretch the D.

TA has no confidence in his game and is a turnover or ill-advised shot waiting to happen.

I have no qualms saying that Scalabrine is worth more than Tony Allen.

I'm simply saying that the guy doesn't do anything to suggest that he's worth more than the minimum at this point in his career.

The guy has basically stolen a check for the past 5 years overpaid by a minimum of $2MM a year, but because he tries hard ... people overlook it.

I'm looking forward to the day where his salary is reflective of his pay.

I can't argue with your points. I was always against his contract, from the time it was reported he was signed.

What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time there were probably more people who thought Scal was the absolute worst player in the league than people who thought he could fill a role for us.

The reason I would give up TA is unrelated to relative value. Scal can play the 4. TA can't. We have more options already at the 2 & 3 with Walker and Giddens still on the team.

Sorry guys ... had to.  I believe Scalabrine is a better player, but with the luxury tax, I question if he is worth $1.6MM more than Allen. :)

Granted, I'll be OK when both players are off the team.

I totally agree. Last year this poll would most likely have been about even and two years ago the poll would have gone TAs way by a mile (like it's going Scals way now). I definitely remember the times that I HATED Scal- not as a person, but as a player. I totally understand people who think Scal has basically stolen 15 mill(after this year) from the Celtics, but from a strict 'need' standpoint, Scal is more necessary to keep than TA, with Daniels coming in. Last year he even became slightly more than a mascot and kinda found a niche as a poor man's Posey. I know his number won't be retired here or anything, but a lot of people would have gotten really down, given up, and turned on the fans. Scal kept trying and finally became something useful to this team. Now when he comes on the floor, the cheers are legitimate.
