  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Posted this in the wrong thread but...

I challenge all the "teams of the future" to beat a core of

Rondo, Jefferson, Biedrins

Followed by a cadre of

Nate Robinson, Koufos, McRoberts, Smith, Ilyasova

Between upcoming drafts we can sort out the wings, but this is a playoff (championship, stupid Tim Duncan!) team now and a title team tomorrow.

Good luck and godspeed.

EDIT: Josh Howard and Roger Mason Jr aren't even 30 yet either. They still have 4-5 good prime to just below prime years in their future. The suns never sets in Phoenixes!!!

Bring it ONNNNNNNNNNN!

EDit: and Kyle Korver, who is also not yet 30. my team will kick your butt then steal your girl.

One thing I found interesting, looking at the "Final Five" (i.e., the Conference Finalists, and Orlando since they were in a run-off):

TeamOriginal PickFirst Pick MadeOverall Finish
Orlando1st1st5th
Buffalo2nd2nd3rd (tie)
Toronto3rd7th2nd
Philadelphia4th9th3rd (tie)
Portland16th35th1st

I think it's clear that landing a top-four pick really, really gives a GM an advantage here.  However, Portland's finish also shows that literally anyone can win, if you draft well and make good trades.

Thats true, but when you look at my picks I think I had one remaining original pick going into the draft haha

Who won the 07 and 08 CB drafts?

As Edgar said, there was no voting in '07 (although New Jersey and Boston both had very strong teams), and in '08 we didn't get beyond voting for Conference seeds.  Results last year were as follows:

Okay, results.  47 people voted, total.

The breakdown was as follows:

Eastern Conference Division Winners

1. New Jersey 1.69
2. Orlando 1.89
3. Detroit 2.42

Eastern Conference Playoff Teams

4. New York 3.45
5. Charlotte 4.52
6. Atlanta 4.75
7. Chicago 4.89
8. Cleveland 5.77

Eastern Conference Lottery Teams

9. Philadelphia 5.80
10. Toronto 6.07
11. Boston 6.95
12. Indiana 8.68
13. Washington 8.95
14. Milwaukee 8.98
15. Miami 9.18

Western Conference Division Winners

1. Portland 1.59
2. Golden State 2.13
3. Dallas 2.28

Western Conference Playoff Teams

4. Los Angeles 4.17
5. Utah 4.48
6. Denver 5.09
7. Minnesota 5.36
8. San Antonio 5.76

Western Conference Lottery Teams

9t. Houston 5.96
9t. Phoenix 5.96
11. Las Vegas 6.15
12. Memphis 7.83
13. Sacramento 8.35
14. Oklahoma City 9.41
15. New Orleans 9.50

In terms of last year's "team of the future" (which was open to all teams), Portland won.  (http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=23605.0)

IP I am glad to say for the first time in this draft you and I are firmly on the same side of an argument. I don't see anybody touching this team, although there are some very quality TOTF options in the East as well.

And, for the record, Phoenix lost to Seattle, who lost to Buffalo, who lost to Portland. We were both fairly removed from a title, despite our obvious biases haha... Tim Duncan is still wondering how anyone will ever stop Dwight Howard in any sport, event, activity, or competition.

So technically Portland won both categories last year and the championship this year? Have you considered a position in the NBA yet or what?

With 24 playoffs among them, this team is not only young, talented and well designed: Its also experienced enough to make the jump to the next level.

If it worth anything i think u have the best balance of experienced young, potential and actual talent and very usefull players to make it
and soon you will have expirings too.

My vote went to you and I support Memphis case in futures team among all non playoff teams.

denver was very very very close though
but lacks veteran leadership
