Marc Spears: Daniels Would be Celtic by end of next week

Marc Spears: The Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers will likely decide by the end of the week whether guard Marquis Daniels will receive Boston’s $1.99 million biannual exception or come to the team via a sign-and-trade deal. A sign-and-trade would allow the Celtics to save their biannual exception and potentially give Daniels a higher salary. Based on salary, Boston guard Tony Allen could be the best option (he’ll make $2.5 million this season) to go to Indiana in a sign-and-trade.

Giddens is junk.  Worse than TA junk.  How can you like him better?  From the 6 NBA minutes he's logged in his career?  That is preposterous.

In any case - I agree in hoping that we we can avoid using the LLE on Daniels - anyone is fair game from the Pruitt, Giddens, Walker crowd (I'd like to see Walker go the least out of the three)

Don't know, but if we get Daniels for the LLE we still retain all our assets to use in trades, and I'm sure we can muster something up using TA's contract later on that will land us something better than we might find at the LLE.

And it's not solely about finding someone better than Giddens. I don't like giving away young assets unnecessarily.

Yep, watched him play for 6 minutes and instantly knew he was better than TA. Call me gifted.

I don't think saving our LLE for someone else is that important especially this late in the game in free agency so I would lean towards a straight out sign for the LLE.   We can still sign players for the vet minimum and the difference is only really roughly $500,000 between the vet min and LLE.  That way we can save our expiring deals so something that might be better later on and I like the added depth if we keep players as Daniels is injury prone himself.

good point. $7 mill in expiring contracts could net a very god player at the trade deadline.

2. We will have a hard time getting a better player at a longer term value than Daniels
