With all the past talk of Jamario Moon being the target of the Celtics and then the recent commitment of Marquis Daniels to the Celts.  Who do you think is better for our team?
Did you prefer Moon or do you like Daniels better than Moon and why?

I don't know how anyone could put together an argument that said Moon is a better player than Daniels.

Daniels had been in the league longer and has produced better.

Staying healthy is the determining factor in this argument.  A healthy Daniels is better than a healthy Moon, but if Daniels is injured, he's not doing a team any good.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

Good thing that Moon was healthy during the playoffs last year.

Moon is better if all you think the Cs need is a more athletic version of James Posey to D up the bigger 3s/smaller 4s in the league.  Daniels is better if you think what the Cs need is more offense on the 2nd unit, particularly a guy who can get his own shot.

Well if the Celts got Moon he was better.  But since they're getting Daniels, he's better.

My green-colored glasses always seem to work that way  ;D

Both players seem to have their upsides and their downsides almost equally, but i would take Daniels over Moon.I think a lot of their future success will depend on how quickly they gel(chemistry)on the court with the their new teams.I feel Daniels is already defensive minded from the start and should be a major plus to our bench. When i think of what our recent bench was like, signing M.Daniels is a 100%upgrade.

I agree it's a huge upside, but if the basis of who's better and a better fit is how defensive minded they are, Moon has the advantage. In his two years in the league, Moon has been a very good defender at the 3. Daniels has not given consistent effort on the defensive end. My take is that Moon is a better shooter and defender, Daniels is a significantly better all around offensive basketball player, and has the tools to be a good defender. I'd say Daniels has more upside, and what's more important - we were able to (and did) get him. Moon was not available for us.
Go Celtics.

I've yet to get caught up in this Daniels hoopla... He's a pretty mediocre player, right?  Hasn't he been pretty "bleh" when given limited minutes?  I'm trying to get excited like everyone else, but I dunno what the big deal is.

I don't know that its excitement (though some seem to be pretty on board) but he's a guy who can play a little D, and play the 2 and the 3 that we're getting for pruitt, TA, and walker's dunking ability and "potential" (rumored anyway)

It would be different if we were giving up more, but to me, all three of those guys, with the possible exception of walker, are not pieces we need. a backup 2/3 is.

It's a decent trade, offloads 3 guys who don't really figure to be part of our plans for a back up we need.

Yeah i'm sure he's an upgrade.  Tony, Walker and Pruitt are garbage.   I think the most we can hope out of Daniels is 7-8 points off the bench.

I think purely on their level of impact on the game, Moon and Daniels are very close, despite the very different styles they play.  What they would each bring to the C's, will ultimately depend on who else the C's bring in to complement them off the bench...particularly at PG.

I think they both are similar level of defenders at their positions.  Neither are true shut-down defenders, but they both are passable man-defenders, and have the ability to make plays on defense.  Daniels with deflections and steals, and Moon with blocks.

But on offense, they are very different.  Moon is a super-athletic finisher, whose game consists of highlight real dunks, and 3 pointers, without much in between, while Daniels is a creator, who can make his own shot, and while not being much of a perimeter shooter, can fill it up from midrange, and also can create more for others.

So offensively, Daniels can play on the ball, which would allow House to play PG, meaning they would still have a hole at backup SF.  Moon on the other hand, cannot play on the ball, meaning they would still need to find a backup PG, who can run the offense.

So ultimately, I don't know if it is worth arguing about who is better, the question is, will Danny be able to fit them into the system well.

There isn't too much to get excited by for backup wing.  I mean that was why I wasn't very concerned about it the first place.  It's probably 50 on the list of the top 50 things that will decide whether the C's win an NBA championship in 2010.

Marquis reminds of Sam Perkins in regards to players that
'look high' all the time.

In regards to the question Moon is the more durable player but, Marquis can score in bunches and that's perfect for a bench player.
