I am thinking that even if KG isn't healthy for the whole season or if he is out in the playoffs  the C's can still win the whole thing. With the growth of Rondo Perk and BBD(if he resigns) I think the C's definitely have enough offensive fire power. Plus the additions of Sheed and Daniels will be a huge lift to the bench scoring and Defense . Our chances are much better with a healthy KG ,but if he were to miss the playoffs the C's can still win the whole thing, what do you guys think?

we need kg back to his form, or very close to it if we want to win a title.  it starts and ends with him, his intensity, and defense.

I don't think so, but who knows.  Perk has improved every year of his career.  Maybe he takes an even bigger step this year.  Ditto for Rondo.

Maybe Wallace has a renaissance season.  Maybe they make a great deadline pickup for a player that can contribute.  Maybe Baby comes back and is much improved too...

Lot of ifs.

Let's keep KG healthy just to be safe  :D

If he only declines the same amount he did from 07-08 to 08-09, absolutely. He was still an all-star level PF and defensive player of the year, if not quite MVP level PF.

But if he doesn't return at that level, I don't think we can win it all.

I think KG will come back to old form. Odd nasty injury, all jinxes aside, I don't think it'll happen again and he'll be back. He's never been injury prone in his career.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Im not sure if he can, but im much more interested in whether or not people here think that he will return to old form.

I think he'll fully return from this injury, but he'll be a year older. So that's bound to take away something from his game.

Still KG is a 7 footer who defends and can shoot, he'll remain a very valuable player for years to come.

i think he will be the same as he was.  yes he is a year older....but he will be like a wild animal let out of its cage.  he will be so amped to play, i think we see an even more intense kg, which will elevate his play.

Im just curious though, how much of his shooting do you think is helped by his athleticism and explosiveness.  I mean if you dont worry about the guy blowing past you because he hasn't fully returned from a knee injury you guard him way up closer and agitate his shot more.  Again I hope that he does come back better than ever, i just get nervous.  Knees are things that can really kill a players career let alone an older players career

KG's release is so high its almost impossible to block. To do you so you have to completely sell out the second he raises the ball. Jason Maxiel did it once, then KG pump faked and drew two fouls on him over the next 5 minutes of game time.

right im not saying block, but get a hand in his face, make a jab like your going to punch him in the crotch.  Basically just extra things that defenders dont do because they are worried about the pump fake, then drive past them.

If Camby can still rebound and block shots, I think KG will continue to be able to do so for awhile.

KG @ 50% of his old form is 10 times the player than most PF's in the league.

The thing is, with the addition of Rasheed, KG will have the whole season to get back to his old form. And, even if he doesnt get all the way back but is pretty close I think we have a good shot. I mean, lets add Rasheed to just last seasons playoffs and we are probably playing Cleveland in the conference finals. If KG were also there and averaged just 15 and 8 we might have been in the finals. Then, it's anyones series although the Lakers are much tougher then I would like to admit.

I second that.
