So I guess this takes Detroit out of the list of possible teams in pursuit of Big Baby.

Good trade for Detroit.

Wilcox will challenge Kwame Brown to start at center for the Pistons next season. (Or is it the other way around?)

So who are the suitors for BBD?  Potentially Portland.  And maybe Utah if something happens with Boozer.  It is really looking likely that BBD comes back to play in Boston (at a reasonable contract).  This is good news.

Exactly. Very good news for Boston and our intent of keeping Baby. Suitors remaining, as reported, are Blazers and Jazz. There still remains the sing & trade option discussed on the FP.

Now ESPN also has the story:

Baby is out of options.  Honestly, it would really benefit him if the Celtics did a sign-and-trade.  More money, and more minutes.

I dunno how this works out for the Pistons. Chris Wilcox to me is a guy who has the tools to get 14 and 10 the wrong way every night. He runs, he can finish but he can't create (correct me if I'm wrong). Its not a move a person makes to rebuild or stay competitive...it a move a team makes to stay good enough to be .500...

Detroit didn't seem to me a team that would be content with mediocrity.

Kinda seems like betting on a race between two bum horses. Sure someone will win, but who cares? They'll still be slow.

I like Wilcox a lot more than Brown. Wilcox has his moments, both good and bad, but he had a nice run in Seattle before the relocation. He's certainly capable of 20 and 10; his problem has always been his intensity.

It's a low-risk investment by Detroit (2 years, $3 mil a year).

If we could do a sign and trade ending up with Outlaw, I'd be content.

I actually like it a lot for them. I always said I wanted Wilcox if the BBD option isn't there (though for the LLE, not 3 mill).

It's also good for Wilcox. I felt he was buried under other talent in NYC, and I would have been glad to grab he for the LLE or the minimum but knows he definitely deserves more.

Again, looks more and more likely BBD is ours, if not for an extension than for a QO (which I always said I'm fine with)

Portland isn't dumping Outlaw now that they've missed on Hedo.

Always loved Wilcox's open court potential.  He has to be one of the fastest big men I've ever seen run the floor.  Too bad he never capitalized on it.  Detroit seems determined to be finish between 6th and 9th place in the East for the next 5 years.

Stuckey, Gordon, Hamilton, Prince, Villanueva and Wilcox?  How uninspiring for Detroit fans.  About as bad as Payton, Davis, Pierce, Walker and LaFrentz was for us, except the Pistons have no one of Pierce's calibre and nothing resembling the young talent of Big Al, Perk, Tony Allen (projected to be pretty good back then) and D. West off the bench.
