It depends though. Our bench in 08 would be great against the Cavs, while our current bench would be better against the Magic.

It's all about matchups. I do think we should be fine though. Our PG situation in 08 was even worse than it is now (Rondo playing less minutes and House as the absolute backup).

I think this bench will create more mismatches.

They have issues guarding KG on the pick and roll.  Now they can use Wallace on the pick and roll when KG is on the bench.  And when both KG and Wallace are on the floor, how do Shaq or Big Z guard one of them?

I was actually thinking defensively. If we bench Perk or KG, we have someone to deal with Dwight. Against Cleveland though, one of the most important qualities of our bench was having Posey come in and dealing with Lebron James, or having us go small with Posey at the PF to up the scoring since Big Z can be defended by just KG; somethign our current bench cannot do as effectively.

The bench could be Sheed, me, Champzilla, Roy Hobbs and Scal....this year's bench is already better than the championship season.

Factor in House filling in his role very nicely, Marquis Daniels, the PG we will sign (Marbury?)  and it's not even close.
God bless and good night!

It really depends on the matchup, against post players I think he does a good job. Against perimeter players he has problems because he can't challenge jump shots and has trouble moving with guys like Rashard.

He's not nearly the help defender Perk/KG are because he's not a shot blocker, I think that's probably what you're referring too.

Posey's daggers were huge. But Sheed has maybe hit more huge playoff shots on this team than anyone not named Ray Allen. Sheed has played in more playoff games than any current C's player.

I think Sheed is better than Posey and PJ rolled into one. And Posey wasn't THAT great at guarding LeBron. Paul did most of that work. Maybe people don't realize how huge the Sheed pick-up was..

there will NEVER be a time where there's not a shot blocker in green.

Blocks per game. (career)

Perkins- 1.4
Garnett- 1.6
Wallace- 1.4

It will become pretty apparent by mid November I'm sure.
God bless and good night!

Agreed.  Although I will say that he is still a very good team defender, even though he is not a shot blocker.  He is a tremendous positional defender...at least when he is really trying.  The problem at the end of last season was that when he started playing 30 minutes a game, suddenly his defensive intensity dropped substantially, and he started missing a lot of rotations he was making better than anyone other than Perk and Garnett early in the season.

Another thing about Baby is that he only averages 5Reb per game as a starter, but his ability to box out gets his teammates easier rebounds. So his huge body improves the teams ability to get the board, even if he doesn't get it himself.
