Oh and nothing about AI's career has ever indicated to me that he can sublimate himself and his game to be a part of a team, to be the fifth option on offense, and to come off the bench without complaint.

Especially a team like the Celtics that is at its best with ball movement from passing, and dogged defensive rotations.

His talents would be wonderful on the bench, but he can't/won't use them in a way that the Celtics could use.

All good points...but who doesn't wanna see the lil guy running around?

Miami needs another scorer. He'd be a great fit.

Uh he was an all-star this past season too...

All-Star teams don't mean all that much to me.

At this point in his career he should gladly accept a bench roll on a contender.  However, do any of us really think that deep down Iverson is in that place mentally?

I smell a poll question coming on.  ;)

I would call it more of a hope than a thought.

I actually always pull for guys like him (with a rep) to prove me wrong. I want to believe these guys like Marbury and AI are longing to just blend in with a team.  Hope springs eternal.

I defended Iverson 2 days ago & they threw stones at me! I always wanted to see Iverson in case Marbury left. Sheed & A.I. off of the bench with anyone is a top notch bench!

Too much is being made about decline, or Iverson being washed up. He's the still the man he was three years ago ... Teams are just no longer convinced that their squads can win with him in the fold, that they can put up with all his flaws.

I think Detroit was his last chance to prove he could adapt his game to the betterment of his team, and he failed. It'll be very difficult for a good team to take a chance on him now.

I don't believe you can offer the Detroit situation as any valid proof that Iverson can't adjust to a team game.

The whole Detroit deal was a ticking time bomb from the beginning. They had no established head coach, they lost their leader right at the beginning of the season (4 games in) and the rest of the season was basically an experiment.

If people were able to look at AI without bias and see that his short Denver career was actually the best example of "teamguy AI".

There really is nothing AI can contribute to a title team at this point in his career.

Ever since he hit the market I've been thinking of a good fit and I can't find one.

Only place that makes sense is miami, but only when Dwade is riding the bench.

Even still, with miami pursuing Boozer AND Odom thats a much better route than AI. Hell I'd take either of those players over AI.

I know it's popular to say AI is being overlooked, but what can he honestly contribute?

In his prime AI could carry a team because he dominated the ball. He is WELL past that point in his career, and I don't she him doing really much of anything on any decent teams.

Really the only situation I see panning out for him is playing the duration of his career on crappy teams where he can get shots(clippers, grizzlies...)

So my thought:
Miami, or any bottom dwelling team where he doesn't help or hurt them.

Isn't this the same guy who last year absolutely refused to be a bench player?

The guy can still score, but that's all he's willing to do at this point in his career.  If he's not the first option -- or at least option 1A -- he's going to shut down (literally and figuratively).

Frankly, I'll take him in over House. The team will however need a tall starting point guard so he can take up the starting SG position while he covers the opposing team's PG. He'll only sign to a team if that team puts him in a starting spot. He'll definitely score early on in a game but he must take the back seat in the bench once his full "potential" has been utilized.
