Now, the Heat are working furiously to deliver Lamar Odom and Carlos Boozer to the shores of Biscayne Bay. The Heat are trying to sell Odom on a five-year, $34 million contract at the mid-level exception, and a league executive with knowledge of the talks says Miami has also hatched a three-way proposal with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies to secure Boozer.

I like the Odom pickup, but I don't know if Boozer works well with this team. Seems pretty setup for a fun n' gun and I'd think the team would be better off with a shot blocking big.

Wow. Do they play Beasley at the 3 and Odom at the 4 with Boozer at the 5? Or does Beasly come off the bench with Odom at the 3 and Haslem at the 5? If properly motivated, that's a pretty stacked frontcourt.

Most likely they'd have Beasley as the first man off the bench, but would they perhaps also consider playing dwade at point a bit? I wouldn't, but they might.

Wade
Beasley
Odom
Boozer
FA/trade for big

or

Chalmers
Wade
Beasley
Odom
Boozer

they could go really big, or really small, depending on who they're playing i suppose...

Wow, this would be an interesting move

Why would Odom leave LA for less money?  Didn't he already play in Miami, and I'm not so sure they'd be a legitimate title contender(like the lakers)

this seems highly improbable, but interesting on a day were theres virtually nothing to talk about

Is jermaine o'neal still on their roster?  He's not what he used to be, but not too much would asked him with that kind of a starting line up.  He'd be a nice compliment.

I belive the plan is / would be to trade Beasley for a legit PG.

Yeah if they get both of these guys, their lineup will be:

Jermaine O'Neal
Boozer
Odom
Wade
Chalmers

Beasley as 6th man

The trade rumors involving Boozer that I have heard involve Haslem and other parts, so JO would still be around.  Pretty impressive squad.

I'd like the Lakers to lose Odom, if it takes Miami getting Boozer to happen I'm all for it. We'd beat them with our current squad.

i'd love for Miami to take Odom, but how is that gonna happen?

Miami is able to offer 5 years and 34 million...

He already turned down 4 years and 36 million from the Lakers.

Might as well also just start Iverson at PG

I was predicting the same starting squad yesterday in the "Lakers pull offer from Lamar Odom thread."  Here's what I wrote:
As a basketball fan that would be incredibly fun.

What do you think the record would be for a Miami team fielding a starting squad of Chalmers, Wade, Odom, Boozer, Jermaine O'Neal?  They wouldn't be incredible, but they would probably be very very good.  With Beasley coming off the bench and of course their number one secret weapon...Mark Blount.

Kidding about the Mark Blount thing of course, but it does bring up and interesting part of it.  Beasley is still young and not incredibly experienced and they don't have much else on their bench.  That starting group would be dynamic, but they would struggle to stay in games with only 6 reliable guys.

Money wise it doesn't make sense. But if they give him a 5 year full MLE deal with a player option after three years he might do it. The overall value of the contracts is right about equal when you consider taxes. Then he'd have the option of getting an extension once he's restablished his bird rights in Miami.
