Unless one of three things Happen (and Roy can correct me if I'm wrong)

Moon is a RFA that has been extended the qualifying offer and the Celtics don't have any cap space (especially now having used the MLE on Rasheed) which means we only have the LLE or a minimum salary to offer.  Which means Moon can only be acquired by

a) Us signing Moon for the LLE and Miami not matching (this seems highly unlikely, in fact we'd be doing them a favor)

b) He signs the qualifying offer and we work out a S&T (again why would Miami do this good talent and at a low price is hard to find)

c) Lastly a team with cap space could sign him to a more expensive offer sheet Miami could match and we could work a sign and trade (again it seems unlikely because as far as I've heard the market for Moon is us and Miami)

Which means....the more likely player from Miami to come here by S&T (if any at all) is James Jones (who I would be just as happy with) People should embrace the idea of Tim Thomas because he's more likely. (who I actually don't have a problem with either)

  • Rondo = Good
There's a possibility we could offer him the LLE and Miami would not match because matching would put them over the luxury tax threshold.

We don't have to match the Qualifying offer thats just to keep him as a RFA. THEY have to match our offer (doesn't have to be more or less than their offer)

Very misleading title.

probably one of the most annoying things going on here (and a pretty recent thing...)

I am not sure why people need to state their opinion as fact in titles.  its annoying.

I agree, it looks fairly unlikely that Moon will be coming to Boston.

Hard to see Miami not matching an LLE offer for Moon, and hard to see them being interested in a sign and trade considering what the C's will be offering.

i agree it's not likely. but if you'd asked me if it was likely orlando would match on gortat, i'd have said no. teams have priorities that we don't truly know about. for the reasons i've mentioned (MIA therefore paying the lux tax this year to the tune of 11mil, and not wanting his second year) it's worth the chance to make the guy the MLE offer.

Is it not possible to do a sign and trade involving Moon and Baby both giving them the same contract? Is that against the rules?

And if Moon wants to play in Boston he can force a sign and trade from Miami and we can in return send TA and Scal couldn't we?

We don'e have our MLE anymore, we used it on Rasheed Wallace. We have our LLE and vets minimum.

Why does everyone assume that the Jamario Moon rumours are even true? I don't see any way the celts would acquire Moon unless we also sign and traded Glen Davis to Miami.
