With Cleveland and Orlando both bulking up this off-season finishing in first place during the regular season is going to be huge! Not having to face one of those other teams until the Eastern Conference Finals is especially important for the older Boston squad. I can't wait for the action to begin (of course I hope we add some more depth first).

Regular season will be nice.

Playoffs will be huge.

As long as the Celtics have a top 2 seed in the East and are healthy, they should win a title.

I disagree with that last sentence. I think it is extremely important to get the #1 seed. You don't want to have to face both Cleveland and Orlando, which is what will happen if we finish 2nd.

Home court advantage isn't that important. As long as we have it for the first 2 rounds I'm fine. HCA only matters in the first two rounds because the lower teams are the ones that are usually poor road teams. In the ECF, and Finals it's almost guaranteed to go 6 or 7 games, and neither team suffers much of a drop in play when comparing home vs road.

After our title run too much importance has been placed on home court advantage. The only thing we should be concerned with is making it to the play-offs with a healthy roster. In my opinion, the reason we were so banged up last season was because we put too much emphasis on HCA. We had KG running on a bum leg before he got sidelined, then we tired Ray, and (most noticeably) Pierce's legs out for the play-offs.

I don't think the Spurs had HCA for any of their last 4 titles. Instead of focusing on HCA they've always been more focused on health, and peaking at the right times. I think that's what we should be emulating, instead of killing ourselves over HCA through out the play-offs.

Orlando won with the 3rd seed.

Look through the last 10+ years and look at all the champs that didn't win the number 1 seed in their conference.

The better team wins, even if they don't have home court advantage.

Orlando doesn't scare me, If KG is healthy we sweep them for the season. Now without Hedo its going to be even worse.

Plus, you do not know the seeding.  What if Howard misses 20 games and Orlando finishes 4th?

What if Lebron misses half the season and ends up the 8th seed (with a healthy Lebron)

Home court advantage is called home court advantage for a reason! With the other teams beefing up I'll take any advantage I can. Granted, I don't want us to run our own players into the floor in the process. If someone is getting hurt or is really fatigued, which could lead to getting hurt, rest them. But if they can go or we are close to a win take it!

As I stated in the first post, I think this is especially true as our team gets older. Having an easier ride to the finals is huge. I know that things can happen, for example, a whole team could possibly go down in a plane crash, etc., etc. However, if things play out the way they are supposed to (even with minor injuries) the C's, Orlando, and the Lebronaqs will be the top three teams in the East. So I think finishing #1 is still huge

The season is gonna be sick. Everybody is good. This is the 1st year I'm more pumped for the Celts than the Pats. The NBA in general is gonna be fun to watch next year. Our team doesn't slack during the regular season, so we'll have a good seed when things get serious.
