The San Antonio Express-News reports the Washington Wizards have made a contract offer to former Spurs center Fabricio Oberto.

The Detroit Pistons waived Oberto after acquiring him in a three-team trade with Milawaukee and San Antnio last month.

I don't know what Oberto was offered, but I would be upset if it was anything under the LLE that we could have offered.

This BBD waiting game is going to mess with the Celtics this summer.

Oberto really isn't that good, i'd prefer Gooden, Baby, joe smith way more than him

The wizards roster is really starting to fill out and i´m impressed.  I think they´re gonna be a dynamic team this year.  (of course health is a big key to them.)

Good signing by Washington. They need another big man, and Oberto's passing abilities will be a great fit in a Flip Saunders offense.

With the increasing likelihood of Glen Davis returning to the Celtics next season, I'm not concerned about the Celtics losing out on the opportunity to land Oberto.

Yeah, and my question is: Why is every team improving, and we stopped doing that after signing Rasheed?

I don't think we can move or should move on another big until we know what's going to happen with Baby.

we don't want to go spend our LLE, for instance, on a big if we can re-sign Baby not using any exception money.

but if we lose Baby, we might need to do that....but until then, I think we should be keeping the LLE freed up.

can someone please wake danny ainge up and tell him he is about to lose his only PF on the bench, he cut loose his other one and he is going to have to count on 3 nobodys to back up one of his best players who played too many minutes last year...i think he should know this before boston ends up with a worse bench than last season..

Normally, I wouldn't feel such urgency. However, during the Wallace press conference Doc said that he epected something to happen "very soon" when asked about future moves. While this may have been his anticipation of a possible Grant Hill signing at the time, this caused me to think they had more than one "ball in the air", so to speak.

It seems that we are handcuffed until someone presents an offer sheet to BBD. Ideally, I'd prefer we were more proactive, but can understand that this may be the next step in the necessary order of events.

Calm down. Perk, KG, and Sheed will easily be able to split the PF/C position. There are 96 minutes. You give 33 to KG, 30 to Perk, and 28 to Sheed and you have 5 minutes left over. Scalabrine or any end of roster player will easily be able to handle 10 minutes a night in case of foul trouble without absolutely killing us. Grab a few guys like Hendrix and Swift and you are set.

I love Big Baby, but we have the best front court in the league even if we have Herman Munster as the 4th big.

How did every team improve since we signed Sheed? There are a lot of teams that have done nothing since then.

Avoid generalizations and you won't be so easily frustrated.

Did you forget that we tried to get a backup SF after signing Sheed? You can't force players to come.

We just need to wait to see who Ainge continues to try to get and where they end up going.

Some fans also seem oblivious to the fact that even if we make an equal offer to a player, they may choose to go elsewhere. For example, if Oberto felt he would have a bigger role in Wash, then it makes sense to go there. And if Danny is going to bring back Baby, then it makes sense to save the LLE for a legit SF.
