Walter could handle Thibodeau's system, if his body has anything left and if we didn't use him too much. It's not all that different from Dick Harter's rotations. He doesn't have the athleticism of Moon, but it Moon hasn't even mastered basic NBA defense yet really, he gets by on his athleticism, while Walt knows it inside and out.
And really if we don't use our bench, we need to play man to man a lot more next season anyway. We should have tried it in that last game against the Magic and earlier. The officiating style had become less friendly to our defense and more friendly to small ball and stand around teams like the Magic.
I dunno, this is a tough thread to work out, it seems like most guys who retire, retire for a reason
Yeah it's not like we can just throw 2+ million at a Gary or Walter or Reggie as part of luring them back out. Especially Gary as he has a ring now.
A big part of the reason they retire in the first place is that nobody is willing or able to pay them enough to make it worth the struggle. Yeah they still have something left, but why grind yourself down another year at that age for the veteran minimum?
Stockton is out there too. Everybody knows he's still in great shape and that he could definitely play 10-15 a night if he wanted to, but even for a chance to contribute on a championship squad, the vet minimum is not much money to make it worth it. If the Jazz were contenders and needed a backup point guard, he'd probably consider it.
Antoine...just doesn't have a skill set we're looking for.
What's up with Jason Williams? Think of all the fake behind the back passes leading to missed layups we could generate with him and Rondo! Seriously, he was a good facilitator and those are hard to find.
