OK, since Hill decided to stay with the Suns and that Barnes will probably ask for a big contract, Danny must find a way to convince him to play for us for the LLE.

Can this dream scenario come true? :-\

Maybe sending House in his home would convince him to sign with us.

Edit : a little mix for those who would like to know Barnes better :

Meh. I'm pretty unexcited about Barnes.

Who would you rather have of those available.

Time to look at Bogans.

Scal isn't better.  I'd take Barnes.

I think I do want him, but I'm pretty unsure if he would pick us over the Magic, Lakers and whatever. It will also take a lot of time for him to decide, and I'm not sure he wants to play in a halfcourt team rather then gunning away shots on fastbreaks.

So I would send out an offer to him and meanwhile try to sign Udoka/Bogans. Remember, Danny was after Udoka before we signed tried to sign Reggie in 2007. The first one who bites for the LLE should be signed. Bogans and Udoka also would accept such a backup role and probably don't get a lot of interest throughout the league right now, whereas Barnes had plenty of 30 minute games and probably isn't ready to go to 15 a night.

I like Udoka better. Smaller than Barnes, but quicker. Would rather have a 2/3 than a 3/4.

Scali shoots a higher % from outside.

Scali is a better defender.

What else are the Celtics asking from a slow SF/small PF off the bench?

I like Barnes on offense, but we need someone who can come in and play D more than anything, and that ain't Matt Barnes.

Yeah, Bogans and Udoka would be better choices for that matter. And both shoot the three pretty well.

If Channing Frye ended up getting less than 3 million over 2 years, we absolutely have a chance to steal Hakim Warrick away from the Griz.  His jaw would drop at a 4yr/11 million deal right now.  That would only cost us an additional 2-3 mil per year in luxery tax.

For a player entering his prime who can backup both 3 and 4, with the length to be a great defender in our system -- this has to be considered.  I think I'd even rather have Warrick than trading for Nocioni, especially for the bargain price he can be had for.  The guy is built for our system.

We don't have the resources to make that offer, having used the MLE on Sheed.

Warrick would have to agree to the LLE (roughly $2 mil a year).

That's a nice thought, and I'd love to see it happen. But Warrick is a restricted free agent. I just don't see us making it happen. Our best bet is to lock Baby up and move forward. And can we please just say no to Udoka? He isn't even an NBA level talent.

Plus he fits in our halfcourt offense. SHOW SCAL SOME LOVE!

I think people underrate Barnes on defense, he is a good defender from what I've seen of him. Plus, offensively, he is way better than Udoka who basically only shoots the three while Barnes got post up moves, drives and a shooting touch. He is a good rebounder too.

I really think we should make Barnes our priority, and then look at other players (Bogans seems good).
