I have to completely disagree on this one.

I think when matching up with the Fakers, it is pretty even when you go starting five.

But think about this: Take our 4 "top" players: KG, Paul, Ray, Sheed, match them with any top 4 players on any team.  Still not satisfied?  Go to the Xfactors...Perk and Rondo.  Having Perk and Rondo number 5 and 6 on our list is absolutely amazing.  Not sure if you've forgetten, but those two guys carried this offense/defense at times last postseason.

Perk is in his prime and Rondo is entering his.  I can see why KG and Paul seemed so giddy at the press conference, this is just going to open up a whole new dynamic to this team.

You guys do know that Rasheed is what 35, 36 and is not the same player like he used to be few years back. He's not a banger or a shot blocker period. We need a lock down defender like Powe/Perk type of a player. We don't need scorers really. Sheed is a scorer nothing else.

Yes, but he was still the best FA out there fro us. He'll provide a lot of help on offense, and be a solid team defender. Sounds good to me.

Sup guys,

I'm happy that Sheed is finally in the green and all but I think this move was really Ainge being desperate after seeing that other top teams added quality players to their team. Don't get me wrong, Sheed is a helluva player but I really don't think we needed a player of his caliber. We have a real good center top 10 center in the league easily that being Perk, we only needed to get some back up center whos a shot blocket and a banger. Sheed is not that. He can do fade-aways, hit 3's - is an average defender and not so good rebounder or shot blocker. We need someone like Anderson Varejao or the Birdman. At this point I think Lakers have advantage over us big time with Ron Artest.

PG - Fisher
SG- Kobe
SF- Artest
PF - Odom if he stays or whatever
C - Gasol

And I really don't want to talk about our bench. So far this off-season, C's organization get C

So...let me get this straight, Sheed will not help us, because he is too good for our bench? WE needed a worse player, with less skill?
Looking at my gucci, and it's about that time...

I respectfully must agree to disagree on this.  Wallace is an excellent help defender and team defender.  He helped Ben Wallace win those Defensive Player of the Year Awards by playing alongside him. I think it'll work great.

Now anytime Perk picks up a quick two, the Celts can go to him.  That in itself, is outstanding.

I don't know how anyone can take what you're saying about Sheed seriously, since you're way off in just about everything you've said here and in your previous post.

I don't think we need to waste more energy discussing this.

Haha, now you are just being comical. A scorer, and nothing else? Do you even know who he is? Leon Powe a lock down defender? Rasheed Wallace is one of THE best pick and roll defenders in the league. Even his most ardent detractors will credit his defensive ability first, and his shooting second. In his prime, he could guard 3 positions, play in the post, and step out and hit the 3. He obviously isn't as quick now as he was five years ago, but he can still bang, and still get out on the perimeter in switches. It will be great to see how Doc employs KG and him as a PF/C combo. I literally could not imagine a better fit for the Celtics defensive system, and offensive system for that matter.

Rasheed is not 35 or 36. He is 34. He will turn 35 during the season. He is among the best team defenders in the league. He averaged 1.3 blocks per game which is .67 fewer than our leading shot blocker (Perk). Powe was nowhere near a lockdown defender last year. He plays the type of game where he relies on finesse which may translate into a longer career. He can also stretch the floor which is an important asset when facing teams like Orlando and Cleveland. This move unequivocally makes the Celtics better by bolstering our bench, defense, and offense.

Robert Swift?  Is that you?  Shouldnt you be worried bout your summer league game today?  Did you have to hug your shorts halfway through writing this?

You realize the phrase, "Wont help us," means that you are saying he will worsen our team from last year.  I think that is just wrong

I think you don't understand Sheed as a player at all.

based on his eval of sheed's strengths and weaknesses, i have to agree.

saying he's an average defensive big man at best and bad rebounded alone show's limited knowledge of the player.

Exactly.

I see Boston with edges in 4 of those 5 players you mention for the Lakers.
