It always seems like everyone is a fisherman when it comes to the draft.  We always blame whomever for the one that got away.

How about us fessing up to our own mistakes.

For the Cs, just off the top of my head, I swore these guys were stars on draft night:

Gerald Green
Brad Lohaus
Orien Green
Michael Young
Brian Shaw
Michael Smith
Acie Earl
Jerome Moiso
Sam Vincent

Shaw, Lohaus were pretty decent

I was definitely very excited for Gerald Green and Jerome Moiso.  In Green's case, it was because he was rated so high going into the draft, I just assumed we had a steal.  For Moiso, I only saw him play one game in college, but it was against the #1 ranked team (I think it may have been Stanford), and he absolutely dominated that game on both ends of the floor.

I was nuts about Gerald Green, I was watching videos of him for months before the draft. The day of the draft I was telling my friend I wish the C's could get this guy Gerald Green, but he is going in the top 5, I was out late that night, missed the draft, and was ecstatic the next morning when I saw the draft order on ESPN. I really though it was going to usher in a new dominant era for the C's.

This one is a little reversed, but I was adamant that this kid Lebron James was going to be a complete bust in the NBA.

I was absolutely giddy when Acie Earl dropped to us.

I also thought "Joe Forte was ACC Player of the Year.  That's got to be good, right?"
Yup

Yeah, me too, I had high expectations for Mercer. Never materialized, too bad.

however, Mercer did play a part in my favorite block of all time, just not the desirable part

Mercer was a pretty [dang] good offensive player until injuries took away his career....

I look at guys like Forte, JJ redick, etc...and will never trust a dominant undersized college scorer again (I am waiting for S Curry to be a bust, like all the others that have come before him)

im not callin him a bust, but i thought he'd turn into the player joe johnson is.  Especially after his solid rookie year

Freeman Williams.

Shaw, Vincent, Lohaus had OK careers.  Mosio was no worse than the backup centers we've trotted out the past few years.

Basketballrefernce.com has some nice info on all of their picks through the history.

Michael Young - I thought he would be awsome.  He was a member of Phi Slama Jama.  What a bust.  49 games played in the NBA over three seasons.  Ouch!
