The article also says Stackhouse will be shipped out by Toronto for "considerations" (cash and/or pick). Any chance we could snag him off?

what does he really have left in the tank though? he only played 10 games last year and put up a whopping 4 ppg - he's averaged less than 50 games played per season since 03-04... don't see the value with him really

The immediate deal would have to be with a team under the cap if no players are coming back to them.  They are getting picks/money for brokering this deal as is the team that Stackhouse is getting rerouted to. Stackhouse may well get bought out though by Memphis or OKC, the likely destinations, then he'd be available, although not sure we'd want him at this point as he may well be toast.

Give me one reason why a team would give picks/cash for a player they plan to buy out? Do they just like wasting money or something?

Either a third team will actually want Stackhouse, or another player from Dallas needs to go the third team.

Also - what kind of salary is Marion getting? Seeing how Stackhouse isn't set to make a lot.

My guess would be that Stackhouse goes to a third team -- such as OKC -- along with money sent by Dallas (kind of like the Cassell / POB trades at the end of the year.)

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
If I'm Dallas I look to deal Howard, Jason Terry is a huge part of their offense and he is going to get a lot of minutes at the 2, and in my opinion Marion is better than Howard even though he scores a little less.

How about Josh Howard to Portland? They could use a second banana to Brandon Roy.

for Rudy Fernandez...?

I think that would be good for both teams.

I agree with the people who see a problem with Howard playing SG. He is pretty much a prototypical SF.

Portland might have to send out a little more payroll, since I don't think they have quite enough cap space.

Outlaw, Blake, future picks maybe.

Yeah, Howard is definitely a SF.
