I wish I had known there was gonna be a Gilbert Arenas witch hunt before I drafted him.  This is absolutely nuts.  According to this blog every media outlet is boosting Arenas up for some unknown reason just so that he can not play at all next season.  Not a single person has provided any evidence that Arenas cant play.  Just blindly turns away from fact and reason.  It absolutely boggles my mind.

ROndo.. I don't think there's a witch hunt. i think it's because similar reports came out both of the last 2 years. I think people's skeptism is the same with other players that have been snake-bitten with injuries (Grant HIll back in the day, for example).

I think Arenas *will* play this year, but after 2 seasons of missed play, won't be the Arenas we all remember.  Again Grant HIll might be a good reference point. He's still a very good player. But the Grant Hill that signed with ORL was a GREAT player.

And what is Arenas/WASH. going to say? Everyone's "looking great" a month before training camp starts.

Just build your team and wipe up the floor with other teams at the breatk.

As long as we're critiquing:

PG: Tony Parker
SG: Rudy Gay
F: Boris Diaw
F: Andrea Bargnani
C: Brook Lopez

To echo some other comments, I'm not sure about Gay at SG and Diaw at SF. Both seem out of position to me.

I like the players though. A natural SG might help you recalibrate the lineup, and allow you to bring Bargs or Diaw off the bench as a supersub.

Precisely

I don't like Diaw.  Only success he has had is really as a small C (with minor success as a small PF)

SG should definitly be high on your list

Actually he was more successful last year as a PF, which is where he will play offensively. http://www.82games.com/0809/08CHA16.HTM

I also fail to understand why Rudy Gay is incapable of playing the 2?

Not incapable.  Just not as effective.

And for Diaw, get a SG.  Send him to the bench to back up your bigs.  It will give your team much more balance.

I just wish somebody could provide a report of him not being ready

I wish someone would've found a report that KG wouldn't be back at any point during the playoffs...

Its not a matter of him not being ready to play ball, its a matter of him being ready to be the Hibachi. It takes a long time to recover from knee injuries and he's been out of the game for two years.

He will start the season. How long he lasts and how effective he will be are the questions. I would heed HDM's advice imo. He liked TJ took him and is happy.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Reasons why I don't think Gilbert Arenas will be playing at the level he was in 2006/2007:

Games played since initial MCL injury: 15
Time since initial MCL injury: 2 years, 3 months, 20 days

I'm not saying Gilbert can't play, I'm saying you don't have a superstar anymore. You still have a solid player with a chip on his shoulder which is never a bad thing.

Explain why Diaw, who shot 41% from three last year and was excellent at distributing the ball, starting makes the team unbalanced.

I agree with all of those points.  However that is the most positive thing a single person has said about him
