Except one is only 22 and will only get better and the other will turn 30 this year and is losing a step defensively. Not a huge downgrade imo.
Scola is one my favorite frontcourt players and so I'm not going to knock the trade.
But let's not go overboard on the Prince revisionism. "Losing a step?" I haven't seen any evidence myself, and anyway doubt that his game is predicated on foot speed. Though I'd be interested in hearing the counter-argument.? His defensive PER has held steady. He's one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, with a 7'2" wingspan. He's tough, he's difficult to shot over, he's even more difficult to drive around, he's great in transition, he's great on the switch. He's also a winner over the course of his career, with a championship and a ton of playoff experience that can't or shouldn't be easily discounted.
Chandler is a significant downgrade.
