Other than Sheed and House, our bench pretty much sucks.
We've got Scal, TA, Pruitt, Walker, and Giddens all expiring.  Their contracts total about 8 million dollars.  We could easily get a good back-up PG for that (or a decent PG and PF).  We can still use the LLE on a SF.  And we should still match whatever BBD gets offered.  That gives us 11 players so DA can still sign all the losers he wants to make up for the losers we traded (and resign Powe).

Rasheed Wallace and Eddie House on the bench is a pretty good bench, also, we have the best starting 5 in the NBA.  We are still probably going to add one or two more players (BBD and hill would be great)

But why not trade these assets while they have value instead of letting them expire at the end of the season in which they have no value.

The Celtics.  They are offically paying 8 million in luxury tax now.  These guys have value to round out the bench and come off the books next year.  Meanwhile Walker and Giddens are the best (and really only) prospects for the long term (post Big Three).

A trade might be coming but only to reduce the roster to 15 while keeping some young talent with upside.  IMO, that means Tony Allen and possibly Scal are gone.

At the moment, TA and scal have little to no trade value. At the trading deadline, maybe they can get us something, but right now there is nothing.
