Barnes isn't on Danny's wish list

[Matt] Barnes' agent, Aaron Goodwin, told him that Dallas, Cleveland, Orlando and the Lakers (pre-[Ron] Artest) were the first teams showing interest in him but nothing about the Suns.

I think Danny should try to recruit him, even if we don't know about Hill's decision yet.

Barnes says he wants to "win" :

Barnes averaged career highs in scoring (10.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.5 rpg) with 42.3 percent shooting, the same accuracy he had in the 2007-08 season. He shot 36.7 percent in 37 games as a reserve.

"I want to win," said Barnes, who never imagined joining Phoenix and missing the playoffs. "Look at Trevor Ariza. At the beginning of the season, nobody was talking about him and by the end of the season, he became the No. 1 free agent."

TP Drucci..i rather had Barnes from the beginning.He is a great bench player who always bring intensity and energy...also seem to have a lot left in the tank.

Who has a copy of Danny's wishlist?  I think we are speculating he has no interest just because he was not initially inquiring about him.  Obviously, the plan was too bring in vets off the bench like Sheed and Hill.  Hill is not coming here now.  I pray marbury comes back instead of someone like Lue.  Danny will have to consider Barnes because the only other two options are Anthony Parker who will probably go to Europe for more money and Dahntay Jones who will probably want more than we want or can pay him.  I think now that Hill is likely out of the picture we will resign BBD 1st then go after Parker (who we probably won't get). Then, if parker doesn't pan out go after Barnes.  Just hope Danny doesn't take his sweet time because I don't see who else is out there that can play the 2 and 3.  We need someone minimum 6-6 to 6-8 than can play great D (a must) and shoot the 3 at the very least.

What about Marquis Daniels? He is very similar to Hill in that he can run the point for House, but cannot shoot well from three.

Plus, he is big enough at 6'6" to backup both wing positions.

We might be able to get him from Indiana in a sign and trade swap for Tony and Cash. Otherwise, he should be available for the LLE.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention Marquis Daniels.  TP.  He's another great option.  The guys scored 20+ PPG a number of times and started for the Pacers.  Actually, I'd take him or Barnes.  Not sure who the better defender is, but they are both great backups for Pierce that can play the 2 and 3.  However, I think he'll ask for too much money and will probably look for a place to start.  I see Orlando him going to Orlando and start at the 3 since they will be able to pay him more.

I've always liked Barnes, thought we should have signed him last year. We were a pretty dominat team with Posey coming off the bench. Not saying Barnes is a Posey, but he sure is just about the closest thing to Posey I can see.

Plays tough, physical D with a bit of an edge
Is a fairly long 6'8" who can play SF or OG
Doesn't have a great offensive game but can hit the three pretty well
actually handles the ball far better than Posey
Goes to the hole far better than Posey

Here's a guy who had intermittent 20 point+ games last year...

I don't know why we havent' gone after him. I would much rather have this kid than Hill. Much rather.

I like Hill as a person, seems like a nice guy. But he's been injury prone, doesn't play a lot of D and is very, very old for small forward,

Daniels is injury prone. He played in 54 games last year. Over the last three years, he has played an average of 57 games.  Not nearly enough to warrant a contract for a backup guy that needs to eat Ray and PP's minutes. I would rather have Barnes.
