Through a series of odd events I've come to know Marc in the past few months.  He's a great guy, who is serious about his craft.  Yahoo is lucky to have him.

Spears was definitely my favorite Globe writer.  I loved listening to him on CelticsStuffLive.  Hopefully he coninutes to be a guest on their podcast and on Comcast Sportsnet.

Gluck with the new job Marc!

This will be a loss. I like the few Boston reporters that aren't so mean and cocky. Spears was good, so is Holley, Jackie, Amelie, and Jeff  :)  This might be a dangerous thing to say, but looking at that list (not counting Jeff) why does it seem that almost all Boston white male sports reporters are cocky jerks?

Remember the awful days of the Boston Celtics? You make it seem like May had so many great storylines and seasons to write about. The team was downright abismal for 15 of the last 20 years... I liked Spears' work, but to be honest, he got sent to Boston and all of a sudden they were a title contender. Its easy to be in good spirits when youre dealing with happy players. When you are forced to track down players and coaches of losing teams, the negativity rubs off on you.

This is too bad, I really like Spears. He always had good information. Can't blame him at all for jumping the sinking ship that is the globe and going to a secure job at yahoo.com. GL to him there, and hopefully we'll get a C's article every once in a while.
