Just looked at the schedule and the Celtics play 5 days in a row.  It's taking back to back to a new level.

Hudson is NOT going to replace Gabe, at least not this year.  The guy doesn't play the one.  He has to learn the position.  Plus, you can't have Lester and Eddie on the court at the same time.  They'd be abused defensively.

Hudson can play, but let's be real.  It was one game and many of the guys looked good.  And Doc is not going to play Hudson this season.

What I couldn't believe was how fat Sweetney is.  I was hoping he'd come in, in better shape.  Evidently he's lost weight too. Fazekas looked pretty decent in the second half.  Swift was alright, but nothing exciting.  Rogers looked pretty good as well.

When you win by 30+, it's hard to look bad.

Hudson is more of a PG than Gabe is at this point, imho.  Pruitt cannot break people down and get in the lane like Hudson can, and has all kinds of problems getting our team in its offense.  Hudson does everything well, and he's also a plus defender.  Gabe has not improved since he's been here, and for someone with a good jumpshot, he's been awful shooting the ball.  Hudson > Pruitt, at least for right now.

-- I won't be shocked to see one of Swift, Fazekas or Sweetney make this team.

-- good to read that Hudson's a defensive bulldog (via Thorpe) that's what will help him stay in the league.

Lester has the potential to be a good defender. And Pruitt wasn't really a point guard in college either...actually... he hasn't shown anything to prove that he ever will be one.

It's not one or the other.  Hudson can play, but let's be honest, Doc isn't going to play him this year.  Gabe played more at the one at USC than Lester did at UT Martin.  Lester can play defense, but you put he and Eddie out there and someone's going to get posted up every time.  My problem with what everyone is posting, is that Lester played a few minutes and they're proclaiming the kid the back-up point guard. Does anyone really believe Doc thinks that?

If that happens, it will be his second year in the league, not his first.

At first i thought hudson couldn't dribble but in the 2nd half he tighten up his dribbling and mixed some nice crossovers and 360's to get away from his defender and make simple passes.

The guy has better handles than pruitt and house already

Plus he can shoot and score. We have not heard even 1 rumor of getting a backup vet pg this summer which indicates either pruitt or hudson have all the chances in the world first.

I got a good feeling about hudson chances more so than pruitt as a backup pg. Pruitt to me is a pure sg

I find it very odd that no one has mentioned Fazekas. Nick looked good tonight. He had 13 points and 6 boards in about 20 minutes. I think him, Hudson, and Swift have a very good chance to make this team. Swift didn't look great tonight but he's just rounding into game shape after 2 serious injuries. I think he's got enough upside left to take a chance on him as a 3rd center. Hell, we gave O'Bryant a shot. And Swift has more upside than Patrick.

I'd like to see Mullins get more minutes. I think he could surprise some people. He's a very gutty and smart player and good passer.

If we sign Hill can't Hudson play point guard? Hill is sort of a point forward.

In regards to Pruitt, Gabe was never really a PG at USC. He was moved to PG (from more of a combo gaurd) to the 1 spot at USC after the starting poing Gaurd Ryan Francis was murdered. So he has always been more of a combo gaurd then a natural 1.

I thought Hudson played decent D...and I believe it was his assists that gave Faz the chance to score.  However, my feed failed during the game, although I had audio, and I am not sure what was going on during the 2nd and 3rd quarters (the announcers were not very helpful  ;D ).

All in all, I liked Hudson.  But this was only one game, and a summer league game, at that.

I still feel that BBD or Marbury will be back with the Celtics...maybe both. And that there is a possibility for Powe to rehabilitate and return.  (Yes, I am an optimist by nature).

Hudson's problem is not that he can't dribble, but that he dribbles too much.  He doesn't have a clue how to play offense without the ball in his hands.  He does not see the floor.

Unfortunately, the skill that he lacks is either innate or takes years to develop, and at age 25 Hudson does not have the time to do that.

It was Pruitt who was making those passes to Fazekas, not Hudson.

Thank you for the correction. I saw on the stat sheet that Hudson had 3 assists, Pruitt had 2, and I thought those were Hudson's.  At least they indicate he does pass the ball.  How sad that you don't think Hudson can replace Pruitt in the D League,  ;)

Actually, I will be surprised if we get very much production out of anyone in the summer league  (although I liked Giddens, too).  I thought Hudson outperformed, based on his rank in the draft, and that he has never played a minute in the pros...and I felt that, in order to impress, Pruitt had to finally make a real splash.
