Kidd used the Knicks to get some more cash out of Cuban.

Well, at least this is a little bit less than the 3 year $27 million deal that was rumored to have been offered.  I still think the should have gone after Andre Miller, but hey, I'm not a billionaire.

If that's true, then Cuban is insane.
Nice to be able to throw that much money away, and keep getting further from a title.

I think it's a good deal for Dallas. Very good signing.

This signing, combined with the Gortat signing, gives Dallas a chance to build another contender in the Dirk-era.

That trade was a mistake, but keeping Kidd isn't. He's the best option they have at the point and this way the can sign Gortat. Gortat will help them immensley.

I don't think they can contend just yet ... but if they can add to their core, they're not that far off

Dallas currently has a core of Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Marcin Gortat, Josh Howard, Jason Terry.

Then they trade Eric Dampier + Jerry Stackhouse, both expiring deals and very good trade assets, and bring back another star player to add to that core ... and I think you have a very impressive team ... depending on what exactly they get in those Damp + Stack trades, Dallas could have another contender on their hands. Hopefully, they'll resign Bass too, I think he's important for them.

I really like what Dallas has done this summer. Quietly, they've done a superb job. Three very impressive signings with Gortat, Kidd and Ross.
