NJ's clearly trying to clear cap space. This would also save them money this year. They just brought on Skip to My Lou, so they already have 2 PGs. They need more swingmen to replace Vincanity's production. Scal was a fan favorite when he played there.

The C's need a backup point guard and another big man. Scal probably isn't a good enough rebounder to be the 4th big man. Dooling's very solid, a good locker room guy and in the last year of his contract. This certainly fits the trend towards veterans for the C's - both guys have a lot of experience. If the C's can add Grant Hill, their roster will be 10 deep with experienced vets, plus youngsters for depth:

PG: Rondo, Dooling, Pruitt
SG: Ray Ray, House, Giddens
SF: Paul, Hill, Walker
PF: KG, Sheed
C: Perk, Najera

Perhaps we take a flyer on a couple of unproven bigs, like Swift, to fill out the roster. I'd be very comfortable if that's how things unfold...

I don't hate this. Nice thinking. TP

Great thinking, but I'd rather avoid taking Najera's contract and offer up Pruitt instead of Scalabrine to get Dooling.
