was he nacho chezz or shamwow?

*sippin*

I don't recall Swifty having too many ShamWow! plays out there.  Disappointing to say the least (not that expectations were all that high, but you kinda expected a little bit more).

the team defense was good. Perhaps he played a role in that?

I didn't see the game, so its tough to say anything, but I will say that a summerleague with a team like the C's team is not the best place for any big man to showcase what they can do.  They will be lucky to get a couple shots, and there will probably be much more long rebounds than rebounds down low.  There are a LOT of gunners out there.

But of course, if he really has lost as much mobility as it sounds like he has, then none of this matters.

Swift looked pretty good until he got tired.  He rebounded, hit his free throws, boxed out, clogged the lane, played within himself.

Chris I hate to tell you this, he was terrible.  If you saw the game you wouldn't being saying those comments.  He was really really bad.

When did he rebound?  He had three all game, in twenty minutes.  The stats weren't good, but they were reflective of what I saw on the court.  He's either still hurting, still getting in shape, or not very good.

Well, it sounds like he is either still hurt, or still getting in shape, or he has really lost the quickness that made him a great prospect in the first place.  Before his knee injuries he was a very mobile big man, with decent footwork, and good explosiveness.  I am not surprised that he is not back to his old self right now, after missing so much time last year, but unfortunately, he can't help us much if he is not 100% back.

BTW, for anyone expecting Powe to be back with the C's by the playoffs, I would take a long look at Swift.  There is a good chance that is what Powe will be playing like if he does even come back at the end of this year.  It takes a while to get back quickness and explosiveness with injuries like this.  And Powe relied on that even more than Swift did.

Swift, while not encouraging, did run the floor okay, and had a nice lay in. I also saw a terrible turnaround jumper that hit the side of the backboard. Anyways, if he tries hard and gets fit, maybe there's a chance.

Sweetney, on the other hand, is still rather fat. There's no way he can lose 30 pounds before the season to be in shape. I have to say I was more disappointed with his conditioning that Swift's. I assumed Sweetney would be coming back much stronger than he looks.

Lester Hudson shot some nice jumpers and had a couple good drives to the bucket.

Let's see if it was just a matter of shaking the rust off, maybe he'll be better in the next couple games.  After tonight, though, you're looking at Swift as being wholly in the "project" stage, not a "4th big."  Did not look ready to play in the League, much less be a contributor on a team with Championship aspirations.  Let's keep looking for another big (or hope that Tanguey's gut is wrong about BBD leaving).

EDIT: Oh, God, I had blocked out that turnaround jumper from my memory.  He should be thankful it hit the side of the backboard; if it didn't, it was coming up short by about eight feet!

I'm hoping that it's just rust.  The lay-in was nice, but I didn't really see him boxing out all that much.  Again, I was kinda-sorta watching the game, but what I saw early on, he didn't seem to be all that active under the glass.  I know it's Summer League, but I kinda expected more.

Just get any Celtic's logo's off of him. I can't stand this kid... from his horrible game, to his draft stock, to his stupid fingernails, just leave.
