Here we go again.

Why are fans so blinded as to what is real and what is fantasy in regardss to what players are truly available for someones MLE and LLE?

I've seen posts on here about somehow getting Marion for the MLE or veteran's exemption. Really? Marion isn't even willing to accept the 8+ million offer from Toronto yet he's going to come to the Celtics for the MLE or the LLE (veteran's) and come off the bench?

Now I'm reading about Allen Iverson? REALLY?! You're actually debating about a way to get AI for the MLE or LLE to come off the bench or become a 4th option on the Celtics? AI is going to take the money that STEPHON FREAKIN' MARBURY turned down because he thought it wasn't enough?

Be realistic people. Look at the work they're having to put in just to get Rasheed Wallace to accept the MLE and with all the wooing and players and management meeting him in person he's STILL debating on taking San Antonio's offer instead?

You've got Anthony Parker and Matt Barnes. That's the kind of player you might get for a LLE.

sorry bro, but check your facts.  Chris Broussard of ESPN is reporting that the ONLY team to offer AI any real money is Memphis, he said the could pay him the MLE or more.  The other teams interested in AI, mainly Miami and Charlotte are offering the 2mil LLE.  Not only that, but Memphis wants him coming off the bench!

As a C's fan this is exciting news.  He has one offer from a crappy team to come off the bench.  We could join Miami and Charlotte and throw the LLE at him and pray, or we could attempt a sign and trade of near MLE money, TA and Scal?  Two expiring contracts might very well be the best offer Detroit gets. OR... don't rumors persist that Detroit likes Baby?  Would we help them if they help us?  Detroit owes us in my opinion.

But again, check your facts on what AI is worth on the market.  You are wrong Sir.

EDIT - You can see for yourself by going to ESPN.com and then just under the main headline photo of Turk and Bosh click on the photo of AI with his hands on his hips.

One thing your excluding is the fact that players are reluctant to re-sign with a team that is not a championship contender.  Toronto is going nowhere.  Lots of players will take a pay cut to try to win a championship or showcase themselves for a season or two.

Marion and AI fit under this category (possibly.)  Both of their stocks have dropped off dramatically in the last few years and both need to prove themselves again.  Going into this offseason there were/are a lot of good options out there at Small Forward - Artest, Ariza, Hill, Marion, Barnes, Wilcox, Parker.  I mean, there is not an abundance of money for all these guys to go around demanding whatever salary they want.  With every team that signs someone, that's one less option for these guys.

That being said, I will say again that I don't want AI on this team and I don't believe he would be willing to come here.  Marion however I would take in a heartbeat.  One year deal, give him a chance to eat up a bunch of minutes off our bench and help us get a championship.  Then he can come out next year in the big offseason.  His value will be up, he'll have some more bargaining power.

We're allowed to maintain hope, aren't we?

Let's assume money is not the issue.

If 6' 2" Eddie is our back up 1/2 shooter off the bench, how on earth can we even think of Iverson, who is even smaller, playing beside him?  We need a bigger, defensive guard playing beside Eddie for defensive purposes.  Otherwise, someone like Iverson will just take alot of minutes from Eddie. I'd rather have Eddie out there, a much better shooter, and totally plays within the system.

I am an Eddie fan as well. However, he is not the same tempo as Rondo and that is an issue. We don't love Eddie for his ability to get the ball past half court quickly, if fact, that is his major weakness. Rondo's back up needs to play at the same speed.

I believe the main reason for the team's Marbury love is the hope that he would have been able to fill that role.

Plus, let's not forget about the money that foreign teams are throwing at NBA players to lure them overseas.

Granted, not every player is willing to move, but someone like Anthony Parker absolutely could/would, and would make a decent amount more than the LLE.

It's tough enough trying to sign NBA talent with little-to-no cap room without having to compete with Russia.

AI is worth what he has been offered.

What AI think is his worth is why he is interested in joining Memphis where he can get payed and be the man.

And when was he ever successful with other offensive weapons?
