I am not totally in love with the idea... but is this not worth investigating? They guy is about a year removed from a 28 ppg season isn't he? I wonder if Danny has looked into this at all.

I know he isn't a true pg, and there are a million other reasons not to... but why not? The guy can shoot and score off the bench...he and Eddie would pretty fun to watch.

How much is he looking for? LLE could probably land him on the right team I am thinking. I am not positive he would embrace a bench role, but the guy has much more game than Marbury does, he would be an upgrade IMO

No.  In his mind, he is no ones 2nd banana, let alone a backup Pg.

Based on his time in Detroit, a starting job is more important than a championship to Iverson.

I think it would take a dramatic turn of events for Iverson to want to change himself that drastically.  He's one of those stars, somewhat unstoppable in his hayday, that will probably never figure it out.  I don't see it as a realistic option for the C's.

But hell, I guess anything is worth considering at least.

I don't know, I would like to have him on the team, but he's not the type of backup pg we need. We need a guy who can reliably bring the ball up, play solid D, get guys their shots, and hit open threes. A shoot first, penetrating pg who has no defensive capability left and was never a great outside shooter even in his prime is not what we need.

Just to play devil's advocate here. What the team has said is they want a backup PG who will keep the O pressure like Rondo does.  They do NOT want to see the offensive rythm flucuate from g to g.  Given that, AI would keep the ball moving forward.

good point. and if AI actually decided that he would not mind coming off the bench on a championship team, and would take less money to play on a championship team, and would give up his ego and become a team player to be on a championship team...

then he would be without doubt one of the more powerful bench players in the league. by powerful i mean that he would be playing primarily against 2nd stringers and he would be able to simply dominate them.

i doubt he would come to the celtics as a bench player. but it is fun to speculate.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Allen Iverson is nobody's backup, if you ask him... the fact that he has interest in Memphis proves that he has no desire to win a championship anytime soon either. No thanks.

This guy deserves and wants his first championship more than anyone else in this league. I'd like to give him that chance he could get 15 ppg+ off the bench for us.

He doesn't want to be a bench player. AI disagrees with you.

I would love him as a 6th man, but he wants to start.

I don't see why someone so stubborn deserves a championship.

this could NEVER happen. a.i. could listen to kg,pierce and allen but he would never listen to rondo. at least that's my opinion.those two would clash. iverson does'nt need a ring. touches are most important to him.

Here we go again.

Why are fans so blinded as to what is real and what is fantasy in regardss to what players are truly available for someones MLE and LLE?

I've seen posts on here about somehow getting Marion for the MLE or veteran's exemption. Really? Marion isn't even willing to accept the 8+ million offer from Toronto yet he's going to come to the Celtics for the MLE or the LLE (veteran's) and come off the bench?

Now I'm reading about Allen Iverson? REALLY?! You're actually debating about a way to get AI for the MLE or LLE to come off the bench or become a 4th option on the Celtics? AI is going to take the money that STEPHON FREAKIN' MARBURY turned down because he thought it wasn't enough?

Be realistic people. Look at the work they're having to put in just to get Rasheed Wallace to accept the MLE and with all the wooing and players and management meeting him in person he's STILL debating on taking San Antonio's offer instead?

You've got Anthony Parker and Matt Barnes. That's the kind of player you might get for a LLE.
