If we get some legit NBA wings and can have Eddie be our primary backup 1, I'd be fine with Pruitt being 3rd string.

No, 3rd string or waived.

Too big a risk to be depending on an unproven youngster for the backup point guard role on a contender.

He's shown absolutely nothing since he got here.

Waive him.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

The same could have been said about Baby and Powe within the last 2 years as back up players.  I'd like to see what he does in the summer league first before making that call.  I don't think we can make a valid opinion on what improvements he has made since we hardly saw him play last year.

Except they both showed something when injuries got them a chance on the floor.  Pruitt didn't.

True however It took a while for Doc to give Powe a chance and he was a bit of an older rookie entering the league.  Most people on this blog were very frustrated with BBD early in the season and it took him a while to turn things around and got the playing time and chance to do so.  Maybe Pruitt just needs more of an opportunity.   All I'm saying is give him a little more of a chance.  Let's see what he does in the summer league and go from there.  He just turned 23, is almost 2 years younger than lester Hudson, and Ainge has said he considers him first round talent.  It might be too early to close the book on him just yet.

He's a massive defensive liability at the 2. I'd rather have him not play than be our primary back up for Ray.

its time to give another team a shot at Pruitt, or Pruitt a shot at another team... I hear Memphis is lovely this time of year (hey Chris Wallace, Rudy Gay stinks, Pruitt, TA and Scal for him would be a homerun, I'm telling ya)

what up big green.. new here fellas but celtic fan since birth.. gota say. so far , our offseason has sucked.. i know it's still early but , seems like other teams are getting better except us.. gabe pruit stinks ... and this talk about grant hill is rediculous.. do we really think grant hill is the answer?? to old , and to injury prone.. i know he had a healthy year last year but, 1 healthy year in the last ten doesn't make me feel secure.. we need young energy guys comming off the bench... we sould get dhontey jones. him along with big bill walker, along with our new addition hudson should be an electric bench.. no more old people
2short made a good point in another thread, pruitt actually played better than Marbury last year.. I think it is time to give him a real shot at backup PG, at least for the 1st half of the season. If he doesn't cut it we still have Scal + TA as about 5.5 MIL in expiring contracts to trade at the deadline for a backup PG.

Pruitt has a good stroke and fresh legs so he should be able to defend against 2nd stringers.

Pruitt is a talent and a very exciting prospect with a great chance of making a good "leap" to a contributor this year AND I think we should cut him.  I really don't think he has the "make-up" of a winner and I don't see him being a leader or someone this team can trust.  I see a shaky guy on the floor and when I hear the rumors previously posted on this site about how he is unprepared, and partying, I say "no thank you"

Really hope I am wrong about this.  He could be an asset.

I think we have Gabe Pruitt all wrong.  The theory is that because he doesn't play he isn't good.  But do you remember a few years ago when our power-forward depth chart was Scals-Gomes-Jefferson?  Gomes only played because Scals got hurt, and Jefferson only played because Gomes got hurt.  Doc didn't bring these guys along- they showed they could play from the start.  They just didn't have a chance to play because of the coach.

Or another example- how about Telfair starting over Rondo?  At that time many people on these blogs felt Rondo couldn't play ball, but the truth is he didn't have a chance.  Once again, he only got a chance when Telfair was out of the picture.

Those were on young, losing teams and Doc still didn't play the talent.  He definitely won't bring a player along when he has a team that can win it all.  But that doesn't mean that Pruitt doesn't have talent- it just means Doc is too scared to let a young fella grow.

I think Pruitt looks great out there when he plays- he can shoot, pass, defend, etc.- he just needs some experience.  He needs a coach who will encourage and empower him.  Doc is not a coach that does that.  Our memories seem short.

If Pruitt is what I have to be excited about this off season, the word disappointing can't even do justice.

TP for you...if we end the offseason with pruitt, tony, scal, giddens, walker and some bargin bin schleps...then this offseason stinks again.

here will be our bench  ;D

PG pruitt
SG eddie, tony and hudson
SF giddens, walker
PF Scal
C Swift and mikki moore

Sweet Jeebus....I think I might puke if that's our bench
