not sure what to make of this but...

Chris Mannix reports on Sports Tonight that the Spurs have the edge in landing Sheed due to them having a starting position to offer.

51-49% picking the Spurs...

Yikes! I didn't realize SAS was that far in on this...

Once Gortat was off the market I figured they'd come after Sheed hard.

Hopefully we can get this done.

If we don't sign Sheed I think we can say that we're probably screwed....

Who else are we gonna get, Shawn Marion?  We need a big name signing to compete with what other teams are doing.

Well I'd hope we could make a serious run at McDyess if we can't get Sheed. I just want one of those two...

SA is my greatest fear as well. Pop, Duncan, Championship run and NO STATE tax in Texas.

I still think Shawn Marion might come here. Thats why I hope Toronto signs Hedo. Marion would be left with very few options other than the MLE

I guess the only good news he had to report was that if we lose out on Sheed we may be the leading landing pad for Dice...

also said that Grant Hill is very interested in coming to the Cs citing his relationship with Doc as one reason.

Detroit doesn't have Bird rights to Dice, if we lose out on Sheed we can offer much more money than they can.

Getting Hill would be awesome.

I guess Hill+Dyce would still put us in the hunt...but getting Sheed and Hill or Marion and Dyce would still be way better.

Ok...but we already knew SAS was going after him and we always knew they had a starting spot to offer him.

So how does this change anything?

I don't know how we get Dice and Marion. I think

Sheed
Dice
Marion

would each take up most if not all of the MLE.

I think at this point we need to hope to land at least one of them...and then think LLE for the other postion.

who's the backup big that we could get if Marion uses the MLE?

i doubt we would get marion or grant hill...if sheed goes elsewhere..i don't think boston gets anyone of real value and they are stuck with the great bench they already have

Well it's just hard to hear Sheed leaning toward SAS after basically a week of "Sheed is coming to Boston" hoopla...

but it could also just be speculation on Mannix's part which could just not be right.

I'm sure he was thinking Oberto.
