Not sure if this is a legit twitter , but Marc Stein says he is signing with Dallas on July 8th. Can anyone confirm this as real?

Mark Cuban's big pocketbook wins again!

I don't think this makes that much of a difference for the Mavs, though, besides the fact they don't have to depend on Dampier.

Not good enough to make a big difference for the Mavs. Everything went downhill after Avery left.

Imagine if they never traded away Devin Harris for kidd. They would be legit contenders.

Hope he didn't dish out the full MLE for Gortat. I don't understand the hype behind him, he just isn't that great. We have Perkins for less than the full MLE, I think.

yea but Perk is one of the best bargain big men in the league and was signed before he ever had a brake out year. If Darko can make 7 MIL a year I would think the MLE is fair for Gortat

Excellent signing

This gives the Mavs a legit chance to build another contender in the Dirk-era.

Honestly, I think Gortat has become incredibly overrated because of his exposure during the playoffs.  I mean he's good, but when did he seem to become one of the premier targets of the offseason.  I will wait and see what the contract looks like, but

Rasheed>Gortat
David Lee>Gortat
Chris Anderson>Gortat
McDyess>Gortat

In my opinion.  If the Mavs are gonna drop some money, why not go after one of these guys.  (And yes I know that Gortat is younger than all of those guys, but he's also already bald. ;D)

Wasn't Dallas also looking at Rasheed?

Good call. TP. That's the biggest news for Celtics fans imo.

Yea but I just heard on Sportscenter that the Spurs are going after Gortat harder than Rasheed Wallace and if the Mavs get Gortat then that means Rasheed will be the Spurs number one option to go after

I guess this means the Rockets will really have to go into rebuild mode now, huh?

Artest is probably leaving too.  Doesn't leave them with much.

They should trade McGrady to New Orleans for Tyson Chandler and Posey
