Gortat only comes to Boston if they offer him more money.  Not going to happen.  Places where he can start next season will be able to offer as much, if not more, money then the Celtics.

Rather have Wallace.  He can play with Perk or KG.  (or Davis or Scali or Swift if he makes it)

He has plenty of playoff and finals experience.

And he is more of an offensive weapon off the bench.

Sheed can seamlessly step in for KG, and he can seamlessly take the offense since he's been doing it for so long. Sheed hits big shots in big games. If we're going to stay this old may as well stick to the status quo. This is the wrong year to prospect.

Great points.

This really says it all. We need someone way more for the playoffs than the regular season. Maybe Gortat has a more productive season overall than Sheed, but that will be in a starting role for a team with far less firepower than us (Houston w/o Yao for example). Gortat looked so good against us because his teamates were making way more 3's when he was on the floor over Howard, which has nothing to do with him other than being on the winning team.
I would also argue though, that Sheed's numbers have potential to increase comming off the bench because he will get more looks in the 2nd unit where we were lacking scoring options (especially down low...if Baby didn't pull that 14 footer out of his butt miraculously, we would have got ROCKED by the Magic, it wouldn't have been close). That same shot is Sheed's M.O. He puts those up in his sleep, and he will be much more of a go-to guy than anyone we had comming off the bench last season. Plus if we have to deal with injuries to our starting bigs again, I am far more comfortable handing a starting role over to Rasheed Wallace than freaking Gortat, who has started how many games?
I'm not trying to say Gortat sucks, but honestly, who would be talking about him now if the Magic weren't just in the Finals? He has proven very little, even less than Big Baby, and could possibly be getting a far greater paycheck too? I don't get it. I would say pass on Gortat, ESPECIALLY if the letters M.L.E. are associated with him. That is reserved for a glue guy/6th man type; he is neither at this point in his career.

I agree. Great point about Sheed PPG avg. going up b/c of the looks he will get with the 2nd unit. Plus, he will be a great late game options when playing w/ PP, RA, and KG.

I will admit that I don't understand the infactuation with Rasheed on this Board and by Danny/KG.  But that said, I don't the Gortat is worth the full MLE.

And another thing, I don't get why we would need Sheed to "spread the floor".  The first unit has Pierce and Allen.  The second unit will have Eddie and Scal, why exactly do we need our PF/C to spread the floor?  I want someone who plays tough defense and rebounds.  As I said, I don't think Gortat is the answer but not because he can't spread the floor.

Wallace to Cle makes the most sense.  They have Shaq and Ilgulkis (spelling?) so they can use Wallace's skills more.
LOL!. It's Ilgauskas.  ;D
I guess I should have bought a vowel...

(Or looked it up)
Lol that is probably better then I could do spelling without looking at his name.

Lol. I actually used to think his name was Ilgonkwes (Ill-Gone-Kwess)

I'm not sure about Gortat but I thought Rasheed was terrible last year. Just not the same player.

This is just an untrue statement. He has been extremely consistent the past 3 years

06-07
12.3 PPG , 7.2 RPG,  43% FG'S , 35% 3PT

07-08
12.7 PPG , 6.6  RPG,  43% FG'S, 35% 3PT

08-09
12 PPG   , 7.4 RPG  ,  42% FG'S , 35% 3PT

He is not an all star anymore , but a very solid role player off the bench for 25-30 Mins a game

Exactly, he would come here knowing he doesn't have to be "the guy" anymore and just fulfill his role: a good scorer off the bench who can stretch the defense at a position of need. We won two years ago because we had great role players off the bench: Posey, House, PJ; and that's what we'll need in order to win it again.
