Dear Mr. Ainge and Mr. Grousbeck,

I, the undersigned, was disturbed to hear the stories that Leon Powe will not be resigned due to the knee injury he suffered in the first round of this year's playoffs. If true, I believe that this decision - while it may have some economic merit - is a classless move by an organization that has represented class in the NBA since its inception.

Mr. Powe is an inspiration on many levels. Whether it is the tireless work and toughness that he brings to the basketball court, the adversity that he has overcome to be the man he is today, or the work he does to support his community, Mr. Powe demonstrates what a professional should be.

As a lifelong Celtics fan, I urge the two of you to see beyond the dollars and cents of the moment. Demonstrating such crude business skills with a man who - from all reports I have heard - is a well-respected member of the Boston Celtics and who has a devoted following within the fanbase will have large consequences moving forward. How do you expect us fans and Celtics players to reciprocate loyalty, when you are not making the effort to extend it to one of the NBA's true warriors?

If it stands, the Celtics treatment of Leon Powe will be a black eye on the organization.

With concern,

I don't even agree that it's a shrewd business move. Leon was an incredibly productive player. Well beyond the salary he was making. and the certainly the prospect of him getting back to that is worth the little amount of money you would have to spend to keep him on board.

anyway, definitely agree with the sentiment that not bringing Powe back because it is a waste of a roster spot is a flawed decision.

The guy continued to play on a torn ACL!!

Bring back Leon. It's the righ move.

Nice letter, definitely send it. What's the rule in government? One letter equals 30 people, one phone call equals 50?

I also second Evantime34's idea posted in the "Thanks Powe" thread :

Quote from: Evantime34
Maybe one of the mods can get in touch with the organization so we can send Leon some emails or something.

I think it would be great to have the opportunity to show our support and love to Leon, and maybe it would change Danny's mind (though unlikely). I just feel that showing Powe our appreciation for him is the least we can do for him.
