I loved this guy.  One of my favorite Celtics and I really admired how much he pushed himself when he was here.  It's too bad knee injuries ended his tenure here and if he doesn't return I would formally like to say I appreciate his time here as a Boston Celtic.  I wish him good luck in the future.  Is there any way that we can get an online petition going to send to him and his family saying thanks?  I don't know how to do such things and I think it is really deserved.  Who wants to help out and send him a thank you from the fan community?

I second that maybe one of the mods can get in touch with the organization so we can send Leon some emails or something.

Thirded... Loved what Leon brought to the table.

I think Leon will be a Celtic for life no matter what happens to him. I am sure if he can't play again Wyc or Danny will find a job for him and if he does come back you gotta think Boston is his #1 option.

Thanks Powe.  Hard worker, good guy.

Thanks Leon. You are what a Celtic should be. I know you will recover from your injury and be a great asset to any NBA team again. Keep the Celtics in mind though. You were the difference why we didn't get past Orlando and we could use you for #18. Wait and sign with us around the deadline, have a killer post season and then get your well deserved contract next Summer. Best wishes Leon!
Sincerely,
JR

Here's hoping we can still find a way to sign him.

But no matter what, I'll never ever forget Game 2.  Thanks, Leon.

Just found this. How great is Leon.

By Jessica Camerato
Leon Powe isn’t letting his knee injury slow him down.

Amid free agency and rehabilitation from ACL surgery, he is sponsoring the Leon Powe Basketball Camp in Oakland this summer. The camp is run as part of his Fresh Start Family Services, a non-profit organization which mentors 14-21 year-olds in foster care. All proceeds from the camp will go toward the organization. This year’s camp will run 9am-2pm, August 14 and 15 at the Merritt College Gym. Visit the official site for details.

In addition to the camp, Powe is also behind Fresh Start for Oakland, an event organized to bring the community together for music, food, and fun. This event will take place 10am-4pm, August 15 at the Merritt College campus.

Powe began Fresh Start Family Services to provide support and education for those who, like he did, are growing up in foster care. “I always used to help everybody and some people tell me I help too much,” Powe told WEEI.com in May. “They tell me I can’t save everybody but I say, ‘I will try. I will try to save everybody.’”

He became a free agent on Wednesday when the Celtics did not make a qualifying offer on his contract.

I'll be very sad if he is not with our team but its a business.  However what a deserving guy for a good contract.  Well spoken, hard working GOOD guy.  He is the sort of player the nba needs.  This is the sort of guy if he signs with another team, I'll be giving him a standing o when he comes to the garden.

Wow, i don't agree with cutting ties this early at all unless Danny already has a lock on one hell of a deep bench.

I was on board, as i said with not extending the Qual, but to just say "see ya buddy"....we better have a very, very deep 1-15 with no projects to justify that in my mind.

Thanks for everything leon, I wish things had worked out differently. He was bar none my favorite bench player, and a true celtic in work ethic, pride, and play style....tough day... :'( :'( :'(
