So, who here is watching the series? The second season has been top notch so far. Maryanne with some orgy parties, Vampires with food stock dungeons, demons running around, Jason in his christian paradise, what's not to like?

Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. "Cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But at the service of Bill's less virtuous vampire associates, Sookie is drawn into a series of catastrophes that will put their love to the test.

I am really enjoying this right now. Its got me really asking questions, but it isn't annoying me by not giving me any answers. My questions in order of how much I care about them:

1) What is the deal with the shaking pagan lady?
1a) What does Sam have to do with it?

2) What is the deal with Lafeyette and Eric? Lafeyette was one of my favorite characters from the first season (anyone else notice that HBO has a way of making black gay guys look like tough SOB's and make them really likable as characters? Omar, Lafeyette..) and I'm glad he's only becoming bigger.

3) What is the thing that attacked Sookie?
3a) How is that tied to the new waitress? Is it the new waitress?
3b) How come every new person that gets on True Blood is some kind of bad guy?

4) How long until Jason Stackhouse really screws this up?

5) How is Sookie gonna do as Erik's P-I?

Things you know are going to happen:

1) Tara is going to find out what Lyla really is, and she's going to freak out and almost die. This will probably also involve her mother somehow.

2) Belle's vampire girl is going to do something stupid. HOpefully Hoyt doesn't die.

3) Sam + New Waitress hook up, and Sookie reveals to him what she really is. Sam broods about it.

4) THe Sheriff missing in Dallas is tied to the sunlight coalition (or whatever it is), and will ultimately involve a square off between Jason Stackhouse and Sookie. 

Things I don't care about:

1) Sookie and Belle's happy relationship. I just do not care. Static happiness is akin to watching paint dry.
2) Tara and her new love interest. Don't care.

1. She's clearly the witch from the Odyssey (or some similar) into base pleasure, keeps pigs (and possibly turns people into them), and talks about greek gods. She's bad news, clearly some sort of choice is involved here - you have to chose to give in.

2. Eric was interrogating humans involved in Vamps deaths and thought Lafeyette would have some useful information. He didn't though.

3. It's a demon - we're full in Buffy territory now. It attacked the new waitress and she's somehow possessed by it, and will lead the beast to Sam.

4. Not long.

I assumed she was some kind of god, but there is def a choice involved...thats why she only takes in refuges that are hopeless, so they never want to go back. I think that's also why food is so bountiful...she must be fattening them up.

Ever seen spirited away? Thats what it reminded me of.

I think its more than that. Erik comes back to Lafeyette this week. Laf asked to be made into a vampire, and Erik considered it. I have to think this is an ongoing plot element.

Joss Whedon was a genius. "We need a new episode this week..umm ideas? Ideas? Whatever, I'm just gonna make up an apocalyptic demon."

I'm waiting for more episodes to come out before making a thread. I'm sure we'll find a way to discuss it. There are always ways to talk about Johnson and the anaconda without being offensive.

Speaking of opening theme songs, I really like the True Blood one. I don't know who it is but it's a pretty good song.
