Playing the 4 in Phoenix is very different then playing the 4 in Boston.  You are crazy if you think Barnes can play the 4 spot.  Lewis backed down Pierce last year and abused him in the post and Pierce is much stronger than Barnes.

I agree the guy is a perfect fit and I wanted him last year as well and we should definitely try to sign him, but please call a spade a spade the guy is not a 4.

It's not a strength issue, PP isn't a very long player.  He wasn't getting backed down into the paint and dunked on or jump-hooked to death, Lewis just hits turnarounds and fade-aways.  Barnes can both that with his length/leaps.  Plus, no one had a problem with Posey playing PF and he is only half an inch taller.

Fugazzi huh, you never worked at BOA did you?

Wouldn't Barnes be a better option over Anthony Parker as well? Hes much younger,Bigger(6'7,225) can play the 2 and 3 position. Barnes has very similiar stats to Parker while playing 6mins less per game. Efficieny is the same. He would seem to be the better choice.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

He is definitely more Posey-like if that's what you are driving at.

I would have to agree.  All signs point to that, I just wonder how much he's going to demand.

And there has to be something keeping him out of the rumor mill.  I just don't know what...

Never worked at BOA.

We both agree Barnes should be a priority, we just differ at bit on his usage.  Lets hope we get Sheed and Barnes, which will lead to title #18.

Guess he played the 4 for Phoenix as well. That would make him posey like.

Funny people are talking about Barnes now.  I mentioned him in a fan post a few weeks back and I had both him and Sheed on our potential roster.  I was pretty close.  Anything can happen, but it would be nice.  Also, if BBD goes I don't see any reason we can't use the money we would have offered BBD to get Andersen to play behind KG.  Also, I thought Marbury would go for more money elsewhere, which why I mentioned a few PGs that I would no longer want more than Marbury like Bobby Jackson.

This was the potential roster I proposed...

PG  Rajon Rondo
    Bobby Jackson  (FA Pick Up)
    Gabe Pruitt
SG  Ray Allen
    Eddie House
    JR. Giddens
SF  Paul Pierce
    Matt Barnes   (FA Pick Up)
    Bill Walker
PF  Kevin Garnett
    Chris Andersen  (FA Pick Up)
    Glen Davis
    Leon Powe
C   Kendrick Perkins
    Rasheed Wallace  (FA Pick Up)

Based on the rumors and what's happening it's possible it could be close...

PG  Rajon Rondo
       Stephon Marbury  (FA Pick Up)
       Gabe Pruitt
SG  Ray Allen
        Eddie House
        T. Allen
        JR. Giddens

SF   Paul Pierce
        Matt Barnes   (FA Pick Up)
        Bill Walker
PF   Kevin Garnett
        Chris Andersen  (FA Pick Up)
        Brian Scalabrine
        Leon Powe
C     Kendrick Perkins
        Rasheed Wallace  (FA Pick Up)

I still think we sign Powe at some point.  Also, not sure if Hudson is on our roster this year.  Wish we could rid ourselves of the guys in bold somehow and get another guy like Anthony Parker.

The Celtics already have the better version of Barnes, Scali.  A better defender and outside shooter.

Barnes is a lousy defender and a decent but streaky shooter. Great rebounder.
