Celtics guard Eddie House, after a long deliberation that pushed his decision to today’s deadline, decided to exercise his player option and will remain with the team for next season.

As a result, the nine-year veteran will roam the 3-point line to the tune of approximately $2.9 million next season.

Good to hear! He's a great player to have on our bench, and another expiring contract gives us more trade flexibility.

I am happy

I thing hes a very good backup 2

Rondo  Marbury
Allen  House
Pierce  Artest
KG      Sheed
Perk   Oberto   + 5 rookies....priceless

ok ok ok I know its unrealistic
but who can blame me for dreaming

it could be

rondo  Marbury  Pruitt
Allen  House    Giddens
Pierce Parker   walker
KG     Sheed    Powe
Perk   Oberto   My little sister, and thats still championship quality

Pack Scal, TA and BBD wherever they pay and get those players and we get 2 more rings.
Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

Nice to be back!

The headline should probably read, "Eddie House came to his senses and realized no one was going to offer him close to what the C's are paying him next year when names like Ron Artest, Shawn Marion, and Rasheed Wallace are getting batted about at MLE dollars."

I'm glad he's on board, but he was overvaluing himself if he thought he was ever going to get more than that in this economic climate.

good news indeed. a good start to building the bench for 2009-2010.

$2.9 million is not a lot by nba standards. he knows boston's plays and schemes.

while house can be wildy erratic, when he is hot he is impossible to stop.

but i still hope ainge gets back up for pg.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Finally, something positive that's not a rumor.  We needed the microwave to stay put.  He knows our system and is an integral part of our bench. :)

house is ok. I would have been ok to give hudson a chance instead. He is better than house in so many ways minus pure 3 point accuracy and experience with the team

Is 3 seasons the longest Eddie has stuck with one team?

Glad he's back.

I am glad he is back.  I think he is important in the locker-room, and his shooting is very important to this team (at least in the regular season.  He also provides another expiring contract to combine with Scal and Tony Allen at the deadline, in case they need reinforcements.

Despite bashing him in my post above and having been critical of Eddie over the past couple of years for his ineptitude at the PG spot, I'm OK with him as the backup PG now.  Two years ago when we weren't sure if Rondo could run a team and if he could do it for more than 20 mpg, backup PG was imperative.  However, as we saw last year, 1) House can handle the backup PG spot during the regular season when teams don't generally go through great lengths to pressure him and 2) Rondo can play north of 40 mpg in the playoffs.  So if we're really only talking about the backup PG playing 5-10 mpg in the playoffs, I think we can survive with House, particularly if we land someone like Grant Hill who can handle the ball for a second unit.

Glad to have a fan favorite and incredible shooter back in House! Absolutely a big step towards piecing together a legit bench. Another bonus is being able to watch his son go crazy and dance around on the sidelines for another year haha

Good news if he's going to be the backup point guard

Bad news if he's not. That money might stop the team from doing something more beneficial.

I'm happy he's back ... hopefully ... please be the backup point guard.

I'm very happy Eddie will stick around.  He's got a great fire to him that matches the teams really well.  He's been great for us especially last season when he broke the record for 3pt percentage in a Celtics season.  He's been here for a while and I love the idea of keeping this core together.  Familiarity can be one of the greatest assets a team can have.
