This is just a list of unrestricted free agents that I like. I'm assuming the restricted guys are going to cost too much - both in money and the cap-hold time while you have to wait while another team decides if they want to match)

Want a big man?:

(I'm assuming Boozer and Okur are not going to opt out)
L. Odom 6-10 30
R. Wallace 6-11 35
A. McDyess 6-9 35
Z. Pachulia 6-11 25
D. Gooden 6-10 28
C. Andersen 6-10 31
J. Smith 6-10 34
A. Varajao 6-11 27
F. Oberto 6-10 34 (if bought out)
C. Wilcox 6-11 27
R. Nesterovic 7-0 33

Swingmen: 3/4 or 3/2:

S. Marion 6-8 31
R. Artest 6-7 30
H. Turkoglu 6-10 30
T. Ariza 6-8 24
C. Villaneuva 6-11 25
G. Hill 6-8 37
A. Parker 6-6 34
M. Barnes 6-7 29
W. Herrmann 6-9 30
W. Szczerbiak 6-7 32
Q. Ross 6-6 28
D. Jones 6-6 29
I. Udoka 6-5 32
B. Bowen 6-8 38 (if bought out)

Am i forgetting any unrestricted free agents that would be an upgrade at the swing and big positions (ahead of Tony, Walker, Scal, Davis, Powe, Moore)?

Granted, we don't have a chance with some of the listed dudes above - notably the Lakers. However, I expect our contender FA competition with the MLE to only be made of the Cavs, Magic and Spurs. Thats it.

and what they should be worth to Boston:

This is just a list of unrestricted free agents that I like. I'm assuming the restricted guys are going to cost too much - both in money and the cap-hold time while you have to wait while another team decides if they want to match)

Want a big man?:

(I'm assuming Boozer and Okur are not going to opt out)
L. Odom 6-10 30      $`MLE/5 years (Lakers will give him 9-10 per)
R. Wallace 6-11 35   $ MLE/2 years
A. McDyess 6-9 35    $ MLE/2 years (although has taken less before)
Z. Pachulia 6-11 25  $ MLE/5 years
D. Gooden 6-10 28    $ MLE/5 years
C. Andersen 6-10 31  $ 3/year
J. Smith 6-10 34     $ min-2/year
A. Varajao 6-11 27   $ MLE - but CLE will overpay him)
F. Oberto 6-10 34 (if bought out) $ min-2/year
C. Wilcox 6-11 27    $ 3/year
R. Nesterovic 7-0 33 $ min-2/year

Swingmen: 3/4 or 3/2:

S. Marion 6-8 31   $ MLE/5 years (with player options - wildcard)
R. Artest 6-7 30   $ MLE/5 years (Houston will go to 8-9 per)
H. Turkoglu 6-10 30  $ MLE/5 years (no idea who will pay more)
T. Ariza 6-8 24    $ MLE/5 years (Lakers will keep him for that)
C. Villaneuva 6-11 25  $ 3/year (someone else will go to the MLE)
G. Hill 6-8 37     $ min-3/year
A. Parker 6-6 34   $ 2-3/year
M. Barnes 6-7 29   $ min-2/year
W. Herrmann 6-9 30 $ min-2/year
W. Szczerbiak 6-7 32 $ min-2/year
Q. Ross 6-6 28  $ min
D. Jones 6-6 29  $ min (no way that 4 mil/year rumor is true)
I. Udoka 6-5 32  $ min
B. Bowen 6-8 38 (if bought out)  $ min

Robert Swift?

To be honest, I haven't seen him play. Right now I am assuming Glen Davis is better at the 5, even though he is way short.

I'm guessing Swift would fall into the "August 1st" list of flotsam jetsam free agent pool (below Wilcox and Nesterovic).

Brian Skinner opted out of the last year of his contract (with the Clippers), so he's now a UFA big man.

As far as 3rd string centers go, you could do worse than Skinner. His size and toughness would be a good addition to the roster.

In the very least guys like Skinner fall into the 'better than Mikki Moore  category'. Hopefully we'll get our backup 5 locked up before sifting through that group.

Why would Skinner opt out of anything making more than 2 million? He wont get a bronzed nickel this year!

You can also add Channing Frye to the list of UFA big men.

interesting... if healthy, I thought he was an awfully decent player. He probably falls into that min/LLE zone as far as the C's interests go. I'm REALLY looking forward to reading all the news tomorrow. Get some solid (non tanguay) rumors to chew on.

The QO for Frye that Portland opted not to make was $4.6 million. Pretty steep, considering Frye's limited production and court time over the past couple of seasons.

I think his skill set is quite similar to Davis'. Would his price tag be?

I'd take Frye for the LLE or biannual exception (are those the same thing).  The biggest hole in his game is as a rebounder so he'd need to be paired with a more bruinsing center PF in the frontcourt on the second unit but he is young and skilled.

read it wrong...  yeah getting him for the LLE would be worth it for sure.

After a busy week, and a heck of a Wallace signing, who else is out there?

big men:
L. Odom 6-10 30 - looks to be staying in LA
Z. Pachulia 6-11 25 - looks to be a 1 year deal with ATL
D. Gooden 6-10 28
J. Smith 6-10 34
A. Varajao 6-11 27
F. Oberto 6-10 34
C. Wilcox 6-11 27
R. Nesterovic 7-0 33
C. Frye 6-11 26

Swingmen: 3/4 or 3/2:
G. Hill 6-8 37 - NYK in the lead
A. Parker 6-6 34
M. Barnes 6-7 29
W. Herrmann 6-9 30
W. Szczerbiak 6-7 32
Q. Ross 6-6 28 - Going to DAL
D. Jones 6-6 29
I. Udoka 6-5 32
R. Carney 6-7 25
J. Stackhouse 6-6 35 (if bought out)
B. Bowen 6-8 38 (if bought out)

Point Guards
A. Iverson 6-0 34 - looks to be MIA or MEM
A. Miller 6-2 33
S. Marbury 6-2 32
B. Knight 5-10 34
B. Jackson 6-1 36

Who will be a good fit for the $1.9 mil? Or the minimum? Especially if we loose out on Hill and Baby.

I'd still like Marbury back for the vet minimum but that might be a pipedream now.

Hill & Parker are the two that would be my top 2 pursuits right now.  Obviously, if we get one, don't need the other but they're at the top of my wishlist.
