Faf just pointed out POR as being under the cap.

it looks like in order to be significantly below the cap they need to renounce the rights to Channing Frye.

If Sheed and Dice are not going to land with the Cs as some are reporting, what about Frye? Maybe it's time to resurrect what looked to be a pretty promising career.

Interesting idea.

I will admit that I don't know much about Frye, though, except that he has underwhelmed so far while in the league.  His numbers have dipped every year, which isn't a good sign.  On the other hand, in Portland he lost his PT to Aldridge and Oden, which is understandable.  The question is whether he would be a decent bench player or not -- and it all comes down to motivation.  Anyone have any insight on this?  Is Frye known as a hard worker?

EDIT: just checked out DX: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Channing-Frye-85/
Seems motivation isn't an issue.

Frye is soft but he'd be a decent fourth big in the rotation.

A solid fall back option I think.

yeah he definitely has the "soft" reputation.

he had a promising rookie year and a disappointing sophomore season. then he was moved to Frye I think as part of the Randolph trade and has been buried on their bench the last two seasons.

I wonder when POR has to decide whether or not to put in QO on him.

Before the start of free agency, I imagine.

I would think he would be an upgrade over Mikki Moore and POB but I am not sure he would be all that much of an upgrade.  He is still young (but so wasn't POB).  It seems as though there would be hope for improvement in the right environment but you never know until he is in uniform and on the court.

Yeah, and Cs are at a stage where they don't want to take time to develop a young talent -- they want someone who is ready to contribute off the bench now.

If they're going after Hedo they'll have to renounce him. So yeah it he is a possibility.

I think we need someone who can actually play some Center.  I don't see Frye as being that guy and like others have said he is too soft for my liking.

Even with his breakout rookie season, his numbers still sux. Whats the point of being a Center or PF if you don't rebound or block shots. He could be a good option behind BBD @ PF. I think if KG embarrasses him once on national TV, he could get his act together.  He can play, but is very soft.

  • Rondo = Good
I'd rather not get a younger Mikki Moore tbh.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Same as last year he's a good young player and would be good to take on as a back up big just like POB. I remember when we signed him everyone said it's a good move if he's not the only big we sign, this is the same situation.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
