I suggest this not because I am dissatisfied with Rajon , but because of three things:

1) there may now be friction between the organization and Rajon which will linger
2) I think Rubio is going to be an insanely good PG who would light it up with GPA straight away.
3) not having to pay Rondo 10+ mil next year (which I wholly believe he deserves) could enable us to go after one of the big name FAs in 2010

so with all this being said, how about a three way deal with BOS, MEM, and MIN

BOS gets: Rubio, Songaila

MIN gets: Hasheem Thabeet, Darrell Arthur (or S&T for Warrick)

MEM gets: Rondo, JR Giddens

BOS does it for previously stated reasons. MEM does it to get Rondo (and JR who Wallace reportedly liked last year as well).  MIN does it to get a defensive center to play with scoring bigs BIg Al and Love.

I see where you're coming from, but with KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce already at the end of their primes, we have to win a championship NOW. This in my opinion is the last year we can really win it all. You really want to add an 18 year-old rookie PG to lead this team?

A few things.

first, I think Rubio is that good. I really do. I think wherever he goes he is going to be in the ROY conversation.

second, if we are able to get in on the 2010 FA, I don't think the window closes because maybe we can get a Joe Johnson or someone like that to expand the window.

and last, we can pick up a veteran PG (Marbury, Miller ?) this summer to ease in Rubio over the course of the season. Although I think he could be a starter come playoff time...

it's a gamble for sure, but it could be fun.

I agree.  This is a huge risk even if we signed Kidd, Miller, or Bibby as a free agent as either one of them would be a downgrade to Rondo.  If we make a pitch for Rubio by trading Rondo I would demand someone like Kevin Love as well.   Minny won't do that but if we are trading Rondo that is what I would demand otherwise stand pat.  

I'm saying all this while loving Rubio as well but he is 18 and we have very little time with the big 3. 

Also I think it's overblown the rift between Rondo and the coaching staff.  Rivers was seen joking with Rondo yesterday.  Rondo just needs to mature a little more but don't so many 23 year olds.  If we as 30 and had this issue it would be a different story.

Not a good idea.

Plus, there's been plenty of examples of teams having friction and still winning.  The Bulls with Rodman is one example.  Manny Ramirez and the Sox for years is another.
