I don't get the "he has to man up and play" or the "its his fault he shunned teams" comments. Entering the draft does not in any way obligate anyone to play in the NBA, and as such it is not as if he is holding out or anything like that. As a professional, he has all the right in the world to determine the best situation for him.

well you can't fault him for drafting Rubio, but you can his claim that you can play a back court of Flynn and Rubio.

I can't see how that would work in any way, shape, or form.

the question that should be answered in the coming days is whether Rubio actually has any interest in playing for Minny (and just can't afford the buyout right now) or if the rumors about him going back to Spain are because he doesn't want to play there now or in the future.

Yes, I do think a backcourt of Rubio and Flynn is problematic, especially defensively.

But I think Kahn is trying to sell it in order to maintain Rubio's trade value. Pretty sure that Flynn is the guy they love, and Rubio is the trading chip that can really help the Wolves acquire some additional pieces.

The Wolves should try trading Rubio and Brewer to the Clippers for Thornton and Gordon. Griffin and Rubio are two very nice building blocks for the future. And, Flynn, Gordon, Thornton, Love, and Jefferson isn't looking too bad.

Yeah, you know, I have to give the guy a lot of credit for writing that letter and explaining his moves.  I don't think most GM's would do that.  I still think he's probably just posturing and will end up trading Rubio, but who knows.  Maybe he's right, and Flynn and Rubio could be a decent backcourt - in time. 

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well the question is: can they get guys who are better and have more potential than foye and miller in return for Rubio?  If the answer is yes then Kahn did well.  If the answer is no, then we'll have to wait and see whether Flynn and Rubio work out as a back-court.  Which assumes Rubio even plays here this year.

Yeah, I think keeping Rubio is the only way for the Wolves to get the most value out of the Washington trade, because right now nobody is going to trade a lot of value for Rubio because he hasn't reached his potential.  But if Rubio does reach his potential, he's going to be worth a whole lot more than Foye+Miller.

I agree, but only if Rubio is only thinking about going back to Spain because he can't afford the buyout with his #5 contract.

If he is going back to Spain because he doesn't want to play for Minnesota and actually does want to play in the NBA this year, then the story will quickly sour for MIN and they will be forced to trade him.

they are going to need to get a handle on this situation pretty quickly because Rubio's agent is going to get vocal very quickly if Rubio actually want to play in the NBA right away but just not in Minnesota. Dan Fegan isn't going to let Minny call the shots with such a high profile player like Rubio.

IMO if Rubio wants to play in the NBA this season just not for the T-Wolves, then Minny almost certainly will have to trade him.

I think he's going to be a bust anyway but why wouldn't he play in the NBA? He declared and took the challenge time to man up and play.

because he's only 18 and can control where he goes due to the international prestige he has.

If blake could control it, he wouldn't play for the clippers.

Rubio already has a contract waiting for him, unlike players coming out of college. I don't like it, but its a flaw in a flawed system. Plus he's young and dominating his league, If he sits a year (which he wont anyway) he'll still be a hot pick.

Blake could easily go to Europe and make megabucks - guys play in the NBA because it is the show, the best competition in the world.
