hes got a lot of upside and someone like KG would be a perfect mentor... and he could fill in right now and work, playing either center or powerforward.

I wouldn't mind getting him, but he's not worth Rondo or Ray. I don't think Chicago would take anything else we could offer them for Thomas.

Just not likely because of what we'd have to give up.

Our major pieces will come from free agency.  If a trade happens before next years' trad deadline, it will be small.

I have to agree.  I can't see any more that would actually make sense for both sides.  I think we would have to give up a key piece to get a started from them, no matter how much of a headcase.  It wouldn't hurt for Danny to make the call, but it would be a very short call.

To Boston: Corey Maggette, Tyus Thomas, and Jerome James
To Golden State: Kirk Hinrich
To Chicago: Ray Allen and JR Giddens

As much as I hate putting Ray's professionalism and ability in Chicago to help teach their young players, this is the type of deal that improves depth/age.

Maggette is not nearly the complement that Allen is and not the leader, but he is younger and productive.   Thomas brings a lot of potential to our backup SF position.

Golden State gets a legitimate PG that can play off guard as well.

I'd rather have Hinrich and leave Golden State out of it.

Eh.  Flashes of awesome, but not enough.  Could he sit on our bench, yes. Could he play sometimes?  Yes.  Would I give up something?  Not so much.

Our starters are very good.  Trading for a downgrade at a starter position and a backup for another starter is not a good idea.  While it'd be nice to rest KG and Perk, we can pick up FAs to do that.  Even if we can't, we can simply rest them, use inferior backups, and just get a few less wins in the regular season.

Come playoff time, Tyrus Thomas won't matter all that much if KG and Perk are playing 35-40 mpg.
