Any chance that Tony Battie gets bought out by the Nets?  He's got 6 million dollars on his contract for next year.  I think it's a long shot, but I'd be interested in having him back in green.  He plays good team defense, has good size, and can knock down the 15 footer.  He'd be a good backup for Perk.

Good call.  I think Battie would be a nice vet minimum guy to bring in if he is bought out.  I don't think he is a rotation player anymore, but you could do worse for a depth center.

I'd take Battie over second round picks at this point.  We have enough "potential" players like Giddens, Walker, Allen, and Pruitt around.

when you say "potential" do you mean "under 30 years old"?

Essentially.  I certainly have no illusions about any of them.  My only point is that we don't need anymore players on this team that aren't going to be ready to contribute next season.  We have enough of them.

I say bring him to camp.  If he earns a spot, the Celtics are better.

Well, all of this is assuming there's a buyout.  As far as I know, there isn't one in the works yet.  I was just throwing it out there. 

But I'd be very, very happy with a 4/5 rotation of KG, Perk, McDyess, Powe, and Battie come playoff time next year.
