With the Cavs and Magic getting stronger, the Eastern Conf. is no longer the cakewalk of the past couple years.  Add in two young teams like Atlanta and Chicago getting more experience, the road for the Celtics just got much tougher.  Never thought the window could close this fast, especially when many thought now would be the prime time for us to contend.

At least the Spurs are better than the Lakers now.

No. But I do think someone made a thread prematurely.

As good as this team is. We had a tough time beating the lower seeds in 2008 & 2009. If we don't make a trade, our window probably just closed.

But on the other hand, we went 7 games against the eventual Eastern Conference Winners without our best player.

Unless there is a report about KG having to retire that I didn't hear about, the Celtics only need to improve the bench to be the team to beat again.

Danny set the bar high, a few years ago. I'm actually proud that about 6-10 teams in the NBA decided to step up too. It should make for some really good regular season basketball and great playoffs. But it will be extremely tough to get back to the finals unless Danny has some more tricks up his sleeve. :-\

I say title contenders in no particular order.

Celtics
Lakers
Cavs
Denver
Orlando
San Antonio

then

Atlanta
Chicago
Utah
Portland
Houston
Wizards

I would put SA ahead of Cleveland.

When I see the Celtics ahead of the Lakers, I always assume it is in order.

Yeah we HAVE to make a move now for a solid bench player or two with the Cavs and Magic improving their clubs.

I guess the only thing coming out of this news of Shaq going to Cleveland and Vince going to Orlando is that it will make Danny do a move even more now.

I wouldn't put Denver in the top group.

In fact I think Portland could be included in that top group if they manage to sign Hedo.

Also, I really don't think you can call anyone else in that bottom group except Houston and maybe the Wizards (if they're healthy and their new team configuration works) "contenders."

The 2nd tier of contenders for next year will probably be Denver, Houston, Portland, Utah and maybe Washington.

The 1st tier will be the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, Magic, and Spurs.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

But the window to do that is later.  When FA begins.

When TA is in his 2nd year of this contract.

Right now, there are no great moves for the Celtics.
