Rondo to Memphis

We heard about 1000 different trades Rondo going to Memphis. But what about Memphis perspective? With everything we have seen, Rondo is still not a finished product and can be great.

But if a trade happens, and we trade Rondo. The fairest trade would be Conley & 2nd for Rondo. Maybe use the 2nd pick for a guy like James Harden or Thabeet. And package and ship Conley to Portland for outlaw & Blake. Would this be fair?

We can gain 3 players for Rondo. James Harden or Thabeet/ Steve Blake/Travis Outlaw. Sign Andre Miller to be our starting Point Guard, and sign Antonio McDyess.

Miller/Blake/House
Ray/Harden/House
Pierce/Outlaw
KG/Dice/Outlaw
Perk/?/Dice

OR

Miller/Blake
Ray/House/JR
Pierce/Outlaw/Walker
KG/Dice/Outlaw
Perk/Thabeet/Dice

It might take time to mesh, but having miller will ease the transition. Our Defense could take a hit, but our offense improves with multiple options to score. Starting unit would still be solid Ray/Pierce/KG/Miller/Perk. Second Unit has a lot of fire power, defense could be shaky. Thabeet option could be the best option. He can petrol the middle.

I like Harden as a prospect but I still feel like if we got the 2 we'd be obligated to take Rubio.  He's the second best prospect in this draft.

I really don't think I'm going to be very happy no matter what trade we make if it involves Rondo for a draft pick.

When doing these scenarios you can't just assume that we can sign Andre Miller, or Mike Bibby because they're available.  Someone else may give them more money.

yeah, we all tend to make the assumption that FAs will go here above anywhere else, that's why we talk about getting guys like Sheed and Hill and Miller like it'd be guaranteed if we wanted them.

I think we'll be really lucky to get Hill or Dice, let alone both of them, and Sheed is out of the question.  If we did need a starting PG I think Miller might come here but other places could and probably would offer more than the MLE.

I'm convinced now Rondo has to go. James Harder/Travis Outlaw/Steve Blake are basically starters. Add Miller & Dice, Our team would be much better as a whole. Starting unit would still be the best, and the bench would be dynamite.

Also, Harden probably won't be starter-caliber from the get-go, and Steve Blake is a stretch at starting PG, though a good backup.

Yeah, if somehow we could trade Rondo and get Harden (or Rubio), Outlaw, and Blake in return and then get Miller in Free Agency, I might consider doing that.  But how the heck is that going to happen?  It isn't.

I know its a lot of assumptions. Is it possible? Yes. Will it improve our team? Yes.

If we did that trade and got the 2nd pick we could turn that over with Minny seeing they want Rubio or Thabeet. We could get back 5th and 18th along with maybe Gomes. We re-sign Marbury until Conley is ready for the starting role and get two prospects for the future along with Gomes and Conley. This is the type of deal that can help us for the future and keep it looking bright, not to mrntion we still have the big three.

But if that happens will have too many prospects. You know what happens to them, they get shoved out. Thabeet & Harden won't deal with those issues. Harden can play right now, and Thabeet just needs to be a defensive stopper. And we get 2 known commodities in Outlaw & Blake. Blake is a great shooter, and can hold his ground as a starter or reserve point guard. Outlaw is a a versatile player, can play the 3 and the 4. He is also a great shooter, and a slasher.
