Rondo's trade value - high to low

As upset as many Rondo supporters may be at how he has been unfairly criticized locally and nationally (honestly I feel embarrassed for him considering he averaged a triple-double and carried the team through the CHI series), one good thing may have come out of this:

Rondo is not going anywhere.

The sum total of all of this negative exposure IMO is that Rondo is not the same tradable asset he was even one week ago.

If you are a team like MEM or SAC are you going to trade for a guy that you probably won't be able to re-sign one year from now when he asks for a contract extension that apparently is more than what he is worth?

Whether he intended it or not, Danny has squashed Rondo's trade value to the point where I don't think he can move him now......which may be a HUGE blessing in disguise.

The Cs offense does not function properly without a PG with PG-skills on the order of Rondo. fortunately, it doesn't look like we will have to see that play itself out. I'd much rather keep fighting off the "Rondo is killing us because he can't shoot" threads than have to initiate the "I told you so" threads if Rondo wasn't back and the team's offense began to stagnate.

and just for the record, Rondo's play in the ORL series may have hurt the team some, but remember, the Cs aren't even in the ORL series if it weren't for Rondo's epic play in the CHI series...

  He's obviously not going to get a contract for more money than somebody thinks he's worth. If someone trades for him now and negotiates a contract this offseason it will most likely be for a lot less than they could get him for after next season when multiple teams are bidding on him. And I don't think that anything that was said about Rondo's attitude is so far from typical that it would scare off suitors.

I don't like what danny did with the publicity & rondo.  I think the coach can say things to the media DURING the season but what Ainge did is low class.  I feel Rondo is worth 2nd tier pg $.  As in not Chris Paul or Deron Williams but whatever the next group is getting he is that good.

That's the problem with saying anything to the media.. it gets spun and soon enough, Rondo's asking for a max contract. I think what Rondo said during his WEEI interview was that he thinks he's on track to be a max contract player, as long as he keeps working hard and adds a few championships to his resume. During that interview, he states quite clearly that right now, Brandon Roy's the only max contract player from his draft year.

I think the worst part of all these rondo trade possibilities, and i think the reason many of them have been trashed on this site, is because so many of you will have to change your rondo related screennames.

It's not so much what is being said, but that it is being said.....publicly

is MEM going to trade away the #2 pick in the draft and take a chance on a player that you need to re-sing almost immediately and could be difficult to negotiate with?
